I don't know if the figures you have include satellite viewers.

Number of cable subscribers in each state

It's new markets and viewers that seem to be driving realignment. Based on that assumption, the SEC should be looking at a Virgina school (3.4 million viewers) and one of the North Carolina (2.8 million viewers) schools. The B1G is probably looking at a Virginia school and Georgia Tech, the...

Now is the time for Blumenthal to declare war

Sorry Nelson, I usually agree with your points but not this time. The smart move right now is to silently bury the hatchet with BC and start scheduling them. The ACC is due to be raided by the SEC, B1G and maybe the Big 12 somewhere down the line. When that happens, UConn needs allies not more...

Where does blame fall in latest snubbing of UConn... Don Amore

According to David Borges one reason the ACC took Louisville was to pre-empt the Big 12 making a move. When the ACC does get raided, UConn and Cincy will be waiting. "Perhaps that's one reason why the ACC is going with Louisville now — it knows that, unlike Louisville, UConn and Cincy have no...

If you want to read a great article about conference realignment

I'd like to know where this is all going and how UConn is impacted. Just get it figured out and let's move forward. I'm not a fan of 14 or 16 school conferences. 12 school conferences seem like the right size for football. Larger conferences work ok for basketball. But as a BB fan, I like...

If you want to read a great article about conference realignment

I think you missed the point. Individual schools aren't really driving the bus. It's the people who are in charge of the conferences that are deciding things. Few schools can choose which conference they want to be part of. The Big Ten commissioner has decided this big move makes business...

    ultimate scenario...

Step one, let ND play themselves in everything. In a world of moochers, they take the cake. Step two, create a playoff system that's fair, polls and computers don't get you there. Step three, everyone sit down and put schools in logical conferences that make some sense. Not gonna happen...

    The realignment cycle's next spin

"...Saban said he believed there needed to be only 60 to 70 FBS teams in four or five conferences, and they needed to play one other and no one else. Basically, Saban admitted he's a proponent of superconferences and programs that are financially able to compete in big-time football, and to hell...

Will the Big East get to keep

I wonder how anyone can really claim to know how to rank schools in college football. Inter conference games between the "elite" schools is very limited. Every week the top ranked schools get beat. I look at ND at #1 and wonder how Pitt let them off the hook. Does anyone really think ND is...

Will the Big East get to keep

The irony, Rutgers was added to the BigEast to beef up football in 1991. All the schools playing football in 1991 are now gone aside from Temple which has an odd BigEast history. If the people in charge knew then what we know now...

    For what is worth.

Like I said, UConn should get the call. Keep in mind Miami and Florida State are both 4 hours away from USF. BC and UConn are about 90 minutes apart. I have no doubt BC will object, let's hope they have no clout left.

    For what is worth.

Tampa (USF) is #13 at almost 2 million; Orlando, an hour away from USF, is #19 at 1.5 million.

    For what is worth.

The best fit for the ACC, geographically, academically and athletically is UConn, which is what ESPN already stated. If TV market potential is what counts, I have no idea who the ACC invites. Tampa is a large market for example.

    ACC by Tues?

I'm still trying to figure out why the B1G would make this move. I just don't see the fan base in Maryland or Rutgers when compared to the likes of Michigan, Ohio St. Penn St. etc.. I could see ND or Texas. The only thing that makes some sense is a long term view of the DC and NYC TV markets...

    BE 4th in Conference RPI

Unfortunately there exists a hard core group of voters who could care less. There's a fair chance either Louisville, Cincy or Rutgers ends the season undefeated. I'd be surprised if an undefeated BE team gets a shot at the championship. Certain "experts" will begin taking a dump on the BE and...

    A Challenge He Won't Abandon

One great recruiting class will change everything. A great basketball tradition, a great conference and a great coach. If this year taught us anything, it is possible to rebuild a program in one year.

A fair conclusion but as you may suspect the NCAA is unlikely to give your argument any merit.

Everybody counts, when you leave you have to be in good academic standing, that's all it is. If a guy leaves and doesn't finish the semester, gets all or I's, it hurts the APR. It doesn't matter why they leave.

The school is doing everything it can to fight the ban. Everyone knows this, doesn't mean the NCAA is going to be reasonable. They never seem to be reasonable. They seem to want to make UConn the poster child for the new emphasis on graduation rates. Everyone knows this is grandstanding to...

NCAA has decided it's UConn's turn to be punished. Almost every good program has had a bad time with the NCAA at some point. Some notable programs that were banned in past years: Kentucky 1990 & 1991 Ohio State 2005 Syracuse 1993 Kansas 1961,1962, 1973, 1989 Louisville 1957 & 1958 It's a...

Big East: NCAA ban would mean no BET

I remember that well, Cuse finished BET runner up that year. The NCAA was pissed, as a reward the NCAA only gave out 3 bids to the conference in 1993. The message was received. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/hc-uconn-men-big-east-0330-20120330,0,2272924.story

    Kentucky's Death March

Agree with those who say the system is the problem. Let players go from High School to the NBA if that is their true goal. Let the NBA create a real developmental league just like professional Baseball and Hockey. If you go to college, you should have to commit to 2 or 3 years. The players...

Worst coaching job of the year?

Fab Melo was Big East Defensive Player of the Year and Syracuse only lost once when he played. Sorry, he's not just an average player on the defensive end. He's a dominant 7 footer who controls the paint. He averaged 3.7 blocks a game in Big East play (led the league in blocks this year)...

Worst coaching job of the year?

I did not hear anyone from the Syracuse team bring up any excuses. OSU is a strong team that deserved to win yesterday. However, I did hear multiple basketball analysts talk about the fact that Syracuse felt the loss of Fab Melo for the first time yesterday. There is nothing wrong with...

Worst coaching job of the year?

The difference was Fab Melo, when he was declared inelligible, OSU bacame the defacto #1 seed. If the Big East defensive player of the year is on the floor, Jared Sullinger does not go wild like he did yesterday(19pts, 7reb). And, Syracuse does not get out rebounded 37-22. I think it's all...

The next game will be a serious test, OSU is a tough match-up for Syracuse. Syracuse will have to be at their best to win. I also think the East Region is the most difficult of the 4 this year.
