The consensus among writers is that the NFL grossly overplayed its hand and treated Brady unfairly.

We just need to win 3 of 4 with the backup, then it's on to another bowl.

1. Yes he did
2. Yes he did
3. No he is not. Before his cheating I would definitely put him in top 3. Now he moves down into the top 10.
It's good to climb from under your rock every so often (week or so) and see if there are any new developments.

You probably read "11 of 12 underinflated by 2 P/SI," "Destroyed cellphone," and "Deflator," and think you have the whole story. In the movie, Gross Anatomy, Matthew Modine's character referred to that method of studying as "The Bold-Type Method," where over 80% of the test questions are in bold typeface. Meanwhile, an important 20% of the test is actually in the regular text.

When the most outspoken member of the New York Jets chimes in to defend Brady and say that Goodell makes up his own rules as he goes along, that's all anyone needs to know. Just for reference for the Patriot pitchfork bearers, Cromartie called Brady an "" and has repeatedly said how much he hates him over the years. Cromartie also said that the rule states that ball infractions warrant a $25,000 fine. That's it. Not a 4-game suspension. Not a loss of 1st round picks. Not a $1M fine. $25K. And that's only if a player is found to be undeniably guilty which, as we all know, is not the case here. "Probably" does not fly in any court in any land, other than renegade rogue Mad Max lands.

"But they consistently beat my favorite team so they must be cheating!"

That's pretty much what I get from this whole thing. People read the headlines and none of the content that doesn't actually prove he did or knew anything about it.

Goodell really backed himself in a corner on this one. The only way he can save face at this point is to resign.

Goodell makes more than any NFL player. Sounds like a cool job.

He has been utterly inept not just in this but in other cases as well. The next time he gives a truthful answer will be the first. But he won't resign. He ultimately might be forced out if a federal judge whacks him around. Especially if the judge gets ticked off because the league refuses to negotiate in good faith as it seems they might be doing, despite the judge's "request."

He makes $40m a year. His whole reason for being is to stay in his job as long as he possibly can.

So true. Ray Rice originally got 2 games and Gordon gets a year. Hardy gets 8 games then it's reduced to the same time as Brady, but Brady can't get it reduced even when the rules explicitly say that if proven it's only a fine. The commish is acting like his fecal matter doesn't stink and I really think this is going to back fire in if tyrannical face.

I'll caveat this with saying, yes I'm a Patriots, but no I don't care if Brady did it or not. If he did, the pay the punishment and call it day. I just think it's absolutely ridiculous that Roger boy thinks he can change the rules whenever he wants. He must be good friends with a certain governor currently in CT.

Amazing how ESPN has tip toed around the embarrassing week the NFL has had. The obvious one sided coverage is basically the only thing keeping anyone on the NFL's side. Meanwhile Yahoo, CNN, CBS and ProFootball Talk have been crushing Goodell all week.

The only people who turned on Goodell on ESPN are Stephen Smith and Skippy Bayless this morning. Tiki Barber went off today and called for Goodell's head. SAS is the stooge who passed the Brady phone story, and now he is contrite.

Brady critics are merely jealous simpletons.

This may qualify as one of the most moronic posts ever on this board. And that's saying something.

Why is the comparison crazy? Phil Neikro is a hall of fame player who doctored balls, Tom Brady is a hall of fame player who doctored balls.
Who is top 3? Don't say Montana. All the 49ers were wearing stick'em, especially Jerry Rice.

Also, what proof do you have he doctored balls?

Also, lastly, anyone who thinks a football with 1 PSI less has any relation to a spit/goo ball throwing knuckler is out of his mind and doesn't know much about these two sports. Sports Science showed that over 60 yards, a ball with 1 more PSI will travel a quarter inch farther and a split second sooner. That's the difference over 60 yards. A goo'd up knuckler is dancng all over the place and is hard to hit.

Are you serious with this comparison?
So can't say Montana because the WR wore stickem but Brady is ok after two 'gate' investigations...only in NE.

Ok - so you are admitting Brady doctored balls but punishment doesn't fit crime? I'm with ya.

How hard is it to understand previous posters' hypocrisy?

You know what the biggest cheating in football is? Cheating the salary cap. Only 2 teams have been caught doing it covertly (Broncos and 49ers). Cowboys and Jets were caught doing it openly and were slapped on the wrist.

Good one. I said earlier 4 games is harsh. If a baseball player who doctors a ball/bat only gets 10 days (of a 162 season), Brady should only get 1 game for doctoring footballs.

Balls weren't deflated. At all. So what are you guys going on about.

At this point, where we are today, the balls were not deflated at all. The Colts balls were in the exact same range as the Patriots balls.
