The finalist are Jewel Loyd (ND), Kelsey Mitchell (OSU), Brittany Hrynko (DePaul) and Tiffany Mitchell. (So Carolina)

How is Moriah overlooked for this Award.

After the game Moriah had against South Carolina, I would think Dawn is probably surprised she isn't on the list as well!

Well let's face it, MoJeff will just have to get better, which is very nice for UConn. Can't wait to see the show she is going to put on in the Tourney in front of the whole nation. Guessing that scoring is they key component here with Sims winning it last year, and maybe the voters feel this is more of a shooting guard award.

And if Baylor's 5'10" Nina Davis can be listed as a center in the ncaa.org roster, Stewie can def be a guard.

It is the UConn trade off that Geno discussed in his show recently. Come to UConn and not get the minutes and not get the "talented kid on the team" spotlight, have great success at the next level, but get the shoulder from the awards because you don't have an entire team on your shoulders. Me, and thankfully a lot of women ballers, are keeping our eye on the prize and Mo I think will take solace in the 3rd and 4th rings.

Any guard oriented award that does not have Mo as a finalist can't be taken seriously.
Any guard oriented award that had Stewart as a finalist last year.........

I think that's a fair trade tho. Let Loyd win the Staley award. Moriah can win the Lieberman award.

You can't make this stuff up. MJ is an incredible talent, a joy to watch, a more than substantial defensive assignment for anyone.

Perhaps CPeck will weigh in with analysis on this one.

Unfortunately DS loses credibility by making it a personal award. Anybody watching the games can see that Moriah is the best PG. It is petty to leave her off the list.

Do any of the finalist have an award named after them? Moriah does. The following was out of a bio about her and the blue highlighted italicized part is of interest:

Named as a finalist for the 2011 USA Basketball U19 World Championship Team in May ... National Christian Homeschool Basketball Championships (NCHBC) Sullivan Award Winner in 2011 and 2012. The award was renamed the Moriah Jefferson Award in 2012 ... Played with the Texas Home Educators Sports Association (THESA) as a homeschooled athlete where she amassed 3,354 points, 825 rebounds and 728 steals in her career. Started competing with the THESA as an eighth grader ... Averaged 17.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.63 assists and 4.0 steals per game in 2011-12, leading the Raiders to a 41-6 record ... Helped lead the Riders to five NCHBC Texas Region titles and five NCHBC national championships ... Started all 50 games in 2010-11 and averaged 21.8 points., 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game in aiding her team to a 42-8 record. ... If I were prone to conspiracy theories it would be hard not to see this as a naked attempt to ensure that Loyd gets the award.
