Is any program even close to UCONN when it comes to recruiting, developing, and deploying top quality guards? KO + UCONN = $.

Told that B10 will definitely get paid (2016-17) on new media rights deal but, damn, the SEC broke the bank.

Just received #ACC 2013-14 tax return. Total revenue up 30% to $302,306,749. Biggest jumps: TV to $197.2M and bowls to $48.8M.

David Teel ‏@DavidTeelatDP · 9h9 hours ago
#ACC distributed 90.7% of total revenue to member schools, in keeping w/previous rates. Also paid out $11M in championship reimbursements.

David Teel ‏@DavidTeelatDP · 9h9 hours ago
A year ago, #ACC estimated 2013-14 revenue at $291.7M, so came in more than $11M above projection.

David Teel ‏@DavidTeelatDP · 9h9 hours ago
#ACC distributions, not including champ reimbursements: VT $19.3M, UVa $18.3M, Clemson $21.3M, Duke & FSU $20.2M, UNC $19.8M ...

David Teel ‏@DavidTeelatDP · 9h9 hours ago
More #ACC distributions: Miami $19.5M, BC $19.4M, GT $19.2M, Cuse $19.2M, Pitt $18.9M, WF $17.9M, ND $4.9M.

Maryland shown as receiving $18.0M in 2013-14 #ACC revenue, but that w/held in court settlement. Will eventually go to remaining schools.

This is the last year of the BCS...I wonder what this year (2014-15) under the playoff looks like?

Teel tweets...

Unlike the SEC and others, #ACC has not projected 2014-15 revenue, but with MD settlement and CFP windfall, expect significant spike.

The ACC will likely land at about $25M all in.

And next year, the same. And then the next year, it'll be the same. And then, the same. Repeat until 2025.

Basically, the fifth horse in what will be a two-horse race.

Can't argue the money race. The SEC and B1G will be the money guys.

Doesn't translate into wins all of the time...or Texas would be doing better than they have.

But it sure won't hurt.

Georgetown sells rights to Fox...

"The deal will pay Georgetown an estimated $1 million-$3 million per year (more depending on its success, according to informed insiders), punching up the bottom line of Georgetown’s roughly $34.5 million annual athletic budget. Once Fox recoups that investment, revenue-sharing kicks in, with both the network and athletic department benefiting."

Our girls basketball team sold it's broadcast rights for $1 million before Aresco lumped in our tier 3 rights in the AAC media deal.

Actually, our women's basketball sold their tier 3 rights for $1.8m to a regional network, SNY.

Well, we all know what this means.

If Rule #1 of conference realignment holds true, the Big 12 is about to raid the AAC and take two non-UConn schools.

So far sounds like Boren has only mentioned taking 2, and also said it's not urgent. Ugh. My guess is UCF and either Memphis or Cincy is top of the list; my hope is they decide to think about adding 4, UConn gets a serious look (maybe along with Temple), someone leaks to the press, then the B1G or ACC swoops in...

If I am the Big 12, I go big and be the first to get to 16. Take the best chess pieces left off the table in UConn/UCF/Cincy/Memphis/BYU and Boise (with Boise and BYU as football only). This move would probably push the B1G to 16 as, which would result in raids on the ACC. At that point the SEC probably goes to 16 too and the ACC loses again. Strip FSU, Clemson, UVA and Georgia Tech out of the ACC and watch how fast that conference loses it's stature.

It's an aggressive move that in the near-term would probably cost members $$$, but long term will allow it to gobble up money the ACC would lose out on.

Boren is the one that Cincy's President keeps cozying up to:

“I think it’s something we should strive for while we have the time, stability, all of that to look and be choosy,” Boren said. “(We) can be very selective about who we want to add. It would have to add value to the conference. I think we should.”

“How many years can this go on?” Boren said. “Finally, it just gets to be really debilitating. I worry about that. That’s something I just worry about long-term about the conference, not short term.”

“The elephant in the room remains the network south of us (Longhorn Network) that has struggled and has in a way as long as it’s there,” Boren said. “And we have done quite well with our network and if anything ever changed, it has value to it which we see. But someday, maybe we’ll get past that other problem as well. It’s a problem.”

“The contract says that our main television contract … if we grow from 10 to 11 or 11 to 12, their payments to us grow proportionally,” Boren said. “So everybody’s share stays the same. If it’s ‘X’ dollars, it stays ‘X’ dollars.
