Luckily I'm not deducting points for people spelling their answers OR names incorrectly...

I also think the lurker who's playing along is now obligated to sign up for the Boneyard with the username No-Name Lurker.

Reverse Sheep answers are going to take longer to roll out, but should have a couple posted later tonight.

I think everyone should get (-)400 points for correctly writing their names, like on the SAT.

Can’t believe I f d this one up. For ten minutes in my head I was like 99 percent sure he played with Lamb but wasnt 100 percent positive. Ugh. From right at top 10 to middle of the pack.

I flinched in lack of 100% certainty regarding Lamb, and went with a certainty that ranked #2.

The consequences of a wrong answer in Reverse Sheep seem so high that it caused me to make some likely middle-of-the-pack safe choices. I'm looking forward to the upcoming answers.

This far, I'm grateful that I'm only 92 points back after going with Donyell as the lottery pick, when Ray was as close to Occam's Razor as it gets. But I now recognize that I didn't choose Ray because I didn't want him to be 2 super-obvious answers, but that's because I'd chosen him as an Ollie era player, never having considered that the question referred to Ollie as a coach.

This is my favorite off-season thread, but would I make it a Sheep Trivia answer? Do others like it so much? Or would they remember it as such? Hmm

Daniel Hamilton (+24):

Scoring Notes:

  • The five guys listed in the correct responses are the only Huskies left in the NBA heading into the 2022-23 season.
  • While Jeremy Lamb played in the NBA last season for the Pacers and Kings, his contract expired at the end of the year and he remains unsigned.
  • Daniel Hamilton hasn't been in the NBA since 2019 and played for Ionikos BC in Greece last season.
  • Amida Brimah briefly played on the Pacers last year, but is slated to play for Mets de Guaynabo in Puerto Rico.
  • Shabazz is headed to play for Crvena Zvezda in Serbia next season after last playing in the NBA in 2019-20.
A reminder that answers are all open to challenges.

Next season hasn’t started yet, so I’m not sure you should count that as active.

Jeremy Lamb is still listed on the official nba.com/players list, which I believe only includes current players they consider active

Also Kemba was bought out by the Pistons so he’s also currently an unrestricted free agent. If it were me, I’d count both or neither (but I answered Lamb for this one so I’m biased ;))

I’m also biased because he was my answer too, but he played last season and just because he hasn’t signed a new contract doesn’t mean he’s no longer an active nba player it means he’s a free agent.

I brainfarted D. Hamilton as my answer, so have no dog in this fight, but I agree with the two posts above. There needs to be a definitive answer, and what answer could be more definitive than nba.com?

I hear everyone's outcry on the Jeremy Lamb ruling, and I've weighed the evidence very carefully. You've all made compelling cases.

But sheep must be ruled with an iron fist; the initial scoring stands.

Jeremy Lamb's contract with the Kings expired July 1 and he's been an unrestricted free agent since. In my estimation, being an active NBA player requires being on an NBA team. He'll be "active" again when he signs his next deal.

Your argument did persuade me to potentially disallow Kemba on the same grounds, but despite reports he was finalizing a buyout with the Pistons, it still hasn't actually happened yet and he stays on Detroit's payroll until it's completed.

Doesn't affect me because I didn't choose him but the question doesn't say NBA player under contract, it says active NBA player. This seems pretty straightforward

Yeah, it's almost a double redundant fault.

No one plays an NBA game without being under contract. So, saying an active NBA player under contract is redundant.
OTOH, no one playing in the NBA right now. It's between seasons. So, even if you have a contract you aren't active.

Sucks when you go to someone's house to play a game and they have whacky house rules. But what are you going to do, call someone out for house rules in their own house?

I picked Drummond, but I think disqualifying Lamb is kind of cheeky. He hasn't retired. He hasn't signed overseas. He's expected to be signed by an NBA team (right?).

I would count Lamb.

That said, I think counting Ed Nelson as a player on a championship team is straight bull____. I think to count as a "player" you have to at least record a minute of playing time. Transfer/redshirt shouldn't count.

The question was “scholarship” player. If Ed had a scholarship, even if he was a redshirt, he should still count. No one said Purvis, but he was a redshirt transfer on scholarship for the 2014 run, and assume he would have counted too.
