well as per uconns twitter looks like Nika is participating in shoot around this morning...

Jesus she’s tough.

that being said, unless she really is ready to go..rest her for the tournament. We’ll need as close to 100% Nika for the NCAA’s

Nika is an ever-present Badass who has learned how not to foul and refined her 3-point shot. She and Aaliyah bring the attitude we have lacked since Gabby and Kia.

Best wishes to Nika! The Boneyard loves you!! :)
It is impressive that NM is getting so much love these days. I am a huge fan of hers and have been all year. Hope she can get back by the sweet 16.

The two other languages I speak (badly) are German and Turkish. Umlauts are present in both. We often butcher names from other languages. Virtually no one pronounces my name correctly, even immediately after I introduce myself. Or spell it correctly. Biggest problem was the great pitcher Bobby Shantz who gave up spelling his name Schantz or correcting pronunciation—it does not rhyme with chance.
Finnish uses umlats. My Swedish-Finn ancestors were from Alahärmä, Länsi-Suomen Lääni, Finland

You probably have forgotten MoJeff guarding the ND player (McBride?) so intensely the ref had to come over and let MoJeff know that the player was just trying to get to the baseline so she trigger an in-bounds play.
MoJeff was NOT this intense as a freshman mostly because she didn’t play as much.

But I remember the glorious game we saw in person when at half-time Marina Maberry was torching UConn. Apparently in the room MoJeff took it upon herself to guard her and shut her down to the point where Maberry in frustration pushed off against her similar to yesterday's Mir experience and incurred a foul.

MoJeff is truly one of the greats, and I agree with Stewie that on some occasions she was at least co-deserving of MVP awards.

I'm sure professional doctors talk about sports, do you go around telling them to stick to being doctors?

Years ago I broke my ankle landing on someone’s foot in a pick up game. One of the players was a Yale med student who looked at my ankle and said he didn’t think it was broken. Walked on it for a day before going to the emergency room where X rays showed the break. He’s now a prof at a well known university med school. On the rare occasions over the years when we see each other, we joke about his conclusion and I tell him I’m glad he didn’t go in to orthopedics.
I'm sure they xrayed that ankle when she went into the locker room. So, they should at least know if there is a fracture. But, frankly, the dreaded " high ankle sprain" is just as bad.

The degree of medical care in a pick up game, even one involving a Yale med school student, is significantly lower than for UConn varsity athletes. I’m sure they xrayed her. Hope she can play again this year.

Do the name Moriah Jefferson ring a bell? (Sorry Flip!) In 2016 Moriah was named the American WBCA NCAA Division I Defensive Player of the Year and consensus first team All-American for the second straight season. Also in 2016 Moriah earned earn the Nancy Lieberman Award, nation's top point guard. She one of only four players in the award's history to claim the honor twice."
I wasn't talking about a season or a career and suggesting Nika was the greatest defensive PG ever, I was talking about the St. John's game. I would take Nika's 21 minutes yesterday and compare them with a 21 minute stretch for anyone. Nika had 4 steals, 4 rebounds and stopped the St. John's offense from starting. Moriah averaged approximately 2.6 steals per game and 2.5 rebounds per game both her senior and junior years and averaged about 30 minutes per game. So comparing Nika to the gold standard and extrapolating out to Moriah's average of 30 minutes without injury, she gets another 2 steals for 6 and another 2 boards for 6. I think we are seeing this year the early development of a future great point guard, and yes, a WNBA pro. Credit the Master for seeing this. I don't think a lot of people did.

Muehl is how it should be pronounced. The umlaut is a phonetic stretching of the vowel denoting that the pronunciation assumes an "e" to be the next letter. We have a favorite German Winery, "Wëgmüler", which is spelled out in English as Weegmueller... Just add the extra "e" after the character with the umlaut.. Muehl
What region is that winery located in? A lot of my favorites have jacked up their prices. Today, my go-to wineries are J.J. Christoffel and Willi Haag. I used to buy a lot from J.J. Prum, Fritz Haag, Kerpen and Willi Schaefer.

If you are not familiar with, and get up to the finger lakes, visit Weimer. By far the best Riesling in the area although there are a couple newer places that have very good dry Riesling. Actually, Weimer may have the best Riesling outside of Germany. I am a big fan of the late harvest and Josef single vineyard.
