Would be fairly surprised if Cole, Gaffney, and Bouknight aren't starting.
Not saying it's not possible

But there's 3 plausible paths that could find him coming of the bench:
- Polley could be ahead of schedule, kills it in the off season, regains his form and shows the light came on and puts forth the complete game effort we saw in his last game
- Jackson is too good to keep on the bench, especially if he can be above average in man to man defense, then we can use him as a weapon in transition with the starting unit
- Nolley or one of these established bigger guards comes in. Nolley would spot into the SF or people think Griffin would start at the 2 end slide Bouk back to the 3

Also with AG leaving we don't have a 3rd true PG. would you want both your PGs starting without one available off the bench?

Agreed. I see no problem having Cole and Gaffney both start...that’s a great combination of poise and vision to get Bouk the ball (I see lots of alley-oops for Bouk and Jackson next year, and I can’t freaking wait).

We're going to start three guards and those look like the most likely options, we would have to get a really good transfer guard to move Gaffney to the bench. Polley ain't starting. I see Jackson or Nolley starting if we get him.

This is not emerging, it is well established science. If you play evening games, you ought to have a 4-hour shifted circadian rhythm such that an evening 7-9 pm game feels to your body like 3-5 pm. That means no significant physical activity or blue light exposure before noon.

5 am weightlifting would be catastrophically bad scheduling. Players ought to wear blue blocking glasses for morning classes and have bright 5000K white light bulbs in the evening in their dorms. Practice in afternoons or evenings.
Blue blockers? One of my favorite commercials from the 90s. The players would have to raid homes of 80 and 90 year olds to borrow them.

Sounds very Vance Jackson-esque. I want guys who put the team over themselves, not guys who are focused on being “the guy.” How has that worked out for Kyrie Irving?
Kyrie Irving is better than KD?

I have seen a lot of talk on here about Nolley, and now Griffin, transferring to UConn and being immediately eligible for 2020/21. I am under the impression that they would almost certainly have to sit out a season (Ala RJ Cole). Am I missing something here?

You answered your own question. Gaffney is a PG

People picture Bouk with 1 out of Jackson, Polley, Nolley or this guy Griffin as starters.

Gaffney off the bench behind Cole.
Gaffney is a pass first high IQ combo guard.

cole, gaffney, bouk, jackson, and whaley are starting unless we get a really good transfer? that's a tiny lineup

I think it’s possible but I think it’s more likely that we have a rebounding specialist at the 4 to start the year and Jackson playing big minutes off the bench at the 3 and sometimes the 4. An expanded Sid Wilson type role. Either Springs at the 4 or Whaley at the 4 and Carlton at the 5 imo.

Yes, if we don't get an elite transfer or 2 (I think we will) I think that would be our lineup.

cole is the pg...where is gaffney right now for you?

I was replying to a statement about Gaff being a SG
As far as where he is right now? I would hope he is home or at least in a safe place

Yes, this rule is most likely going to change.

Come on, man. Don’t act like Kyrie’s entire stint in Boston was the result of an entitled, overconfident player who wanted to be the guy instead of win games. Most good players would want to play WITH LeBron.

Gaffney not a shooting guard, he would either start at point OR back up RJ - pretty simple
I'm sure DH would use 3 guards at once some of the time.

If this kid came here I would guess Gaff would be coming off the bench unless of course he beat out Cole. Griffin and Bouk would be I the first 5.

It actually...does. Kyrie was sick of playing second fiddle to LeBron (even though they were winning) and wanted to go somewhere to be the guy. He got that in Boston. He became the guy. They stunk. Their chemistry was ruined. Realizing he isn’t a #1 option, he then joined KD. Recently a Nets player said the chemistry isn’t the same as it was last year... Realize something? These players who want to be the guy over winning are toxic players that only care about themselves.

First of all some fan board says this kid wants to be the man and u make a panic post about how we don’t need that, the nolly kids game says selfish more than this kids game.
Wanting to be the man is not as bad As not being willing to be coached. You can want to be the man as well as be the man, if you respect your coach and will battle with him

Actually I’ve said several times in this thread that I’m relieved to hear that this kid is NOT like that. So I’m not panicking.

Nolley has made it clear he’s leaving because he wants to be a wing. Some posters have said he takes questionable shots and that he takes some possessions off on defense. Those are coachable things.

A good start to beating Duke for him would be actually reaching out to him
