I can't imagine why a team that won 10 games each of the last two years (AAC East champs both times) and can offer a road game in a pro stadium in the fifth largest city in the US would get a better deal than UConn right now. Mind boggling

UConn also got a home and home with Missouri who has had much better success on the football field in the past 10-12 years than Miami has. But Miami is a bigger "name".

After leaving home state nest, Landry soaring with BC Eagles – The North State Journal

The All-ACC defensive end, who grew up in the Fayetteville suburb of Spring Lake, was back in the Old North State representing Boston College at the conference’s annual preseason Football Kickoff event. Because his Eagles are scheduled to play both NC State and Wake Forest in Chestnut Hill this year, the media day appearance will be Landry’s only trip back at least until the regular season is over in December.

That made this homecoming all the more meaningful, even though his family wasn’t able to make the three-hour drive to see him.

After spending most of last offseason working on his own and with defensive line coach Paul Pasqualoni, a former assistant with the Houston Texans and several other NFL teams, Landry blossomed in 2016 while recording a BC school record 16.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles. His contribution helped the Eagles improve to seven wins, including a victory against Maryland in the Quick Lane Bowl.

If UConn pushed for it even gently, they could get a Home and Home with Miami. How it stands, Miami's stadium rental deal makes it so the normal "pay a G5 team to come play at P5 stadium" arrangement loses them more money than agreeing to H&H's with G5 teams, where the fanbase can travel and support Miami relatively well.

Interesting. And as I recall at the time Shalala pushed for BC's inclusion into the ACC partly because she coveted out of state tuitions and wanted to expose the potentially lucrative New England market to Miami. We fit that bill.

that's funny... I suppose Shalala and Blumenthal could work something out.

I'm still laughing at this line:

"They’ll score touchdowns because Diaco isn’t there."

And this is not a media person saying that. It's an opposing coach! Hilarious... :p

Nippert Stadium Set For New Videoboard

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics announced the upcoming installation of a new LED video display at Nippert Stadium for the 2017 football season.

Nearly four times larger than the size of the existing active video display area, the new end zone display from Daktronics measures 31 feet high by 114 feet wide. The display is the same quality and model installed by the Cincinnati Reds in right field of Great American Ball Park prior to the 2015 MLB All-Star Game. It features a 13HD pixel layout for excellent image clarity, contrast, wide-angle visibility to ensure a great view from any seat within Nippert Stadium and industry-leading environmental protection.

Nippert Stadium's current standard-definition videoboard was installed in 2005.

"The new videoboard is a great enhancement to Nippert Stadium," Head Coach Luke Fickell said. "UC is committed to giving its great fans the best gameday experience possible. It gives us the ability to impact fans, recruits and visitors to campus all year long. I am excited to see construction get started this month."

The display will be capable of variable content zoning, which allows it to show one large image or multiple different zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, game-day graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

The videoboard will be installed this summer prior to the season-opening football game against Austin Peay on August 31.

The project was made possible by a gift from longtime UC supporters Carl and Martha Lindner. Longtime multimedia rights holder IMG College also contributed to the project.

Additional enhancements to the in-game experience at Nippert Stadium will be announced as they are finalized.

Miami is a private school. Out of state tuition is not more.
