The timeline wasnt really September to November. That makes it sound like it was only an 8 week difference.
It was more like early August to mid November, which is closer to 16 weeks. And in that timeframe we were able to see what was happening in other sports. The other sports being played and going off relatively smoothly is a huge piece of data we could not have known about football
We cancelled our season on August 5th.
UMass announced on August 11th they wouldn’t play football, then reversed their decision on September 21st, playing a four game season
On August 17th, the SEC announced a 10 game schedule beginning September 26.
On September 16th, the Big Ten announced an 8 game season starting October 24th
On September 24th, the PAC12 announced a 6 game football season beginning November 7th
New Mexico State played a 2 game SPRING schedule (!!!) against FCS teams because they didn’t play in the fall
We had every opportunity to play football if we wanted to. Literally everyone else did and people even reversed decisions in order to play. To stand by the idea that we were “right” for not playing, despite everyone else playing and college football happening during every other war and pandemic in our history, isn't just stupid- it’s straight asinine
