It all depends on what you think is boring and fun. If you are looking for nightlife, bars, restaurants, big events etc. move the hell out of Connecticut. If you want nice towns, with some pretty damn good natural beauty, hiking etc. Connecticut is a really nice place to live. While CT. lacks a lot of the nightlife stuff, you are anywhere from 1 hour to a little over 2.5 hours from NYC and Boston is also close by. Everyone always takes a dump on Hartford but for a small city it's underrated by CT. residents in terms of culture. The Wadsworth Atheneum is a fabulous museum, Hartford Stage gets great acts, The Bushnell is beautiful, Infinity Hall is a really nice venue, New Britain museum is legit etc. Connecticut is not a jumping place but outside of about a dozen or so cities in the country you are not going to find a jumping environment. Part of the beauty in Connecticut is getting in the car and just driving, you pretty much go within 2 or so hours in any direction and you are seeing beautiful countryside.

As a riveting 23 year old male who enjoys Connecticut basketball in the winter and drinking year round, here is my guide to fun.

  • Downtown New Haven
  • Anywhere along 95 south of Bridgeport, notably Stamford and South Norwalk
  • West Hartford / Hartford
  • Middletown in the summer
  • Casinos
Areas to avoid are: New Britain, Waterbury, The Valley, East of 91 (other than casino), north of 84, Bridgeport at night.

Middletown kind of surprises me.

CT would be nice to return to someday if i could afford it and find employment somewhere, but i like being in a big city right now exposed to all different types of people and opportunities. Some of my friends that stayed in CT after college and just went right back to their High school friends who were around. I spent a decent amount of time in CT in my 20s but looking back, I wish i had made the move out of the state sooner. Nothing wrong with CT, its a nice place but I was one of those people that needed a change of scenery.

I've lived all over this fine state.

There are so many towns where this is literally nothing you could make a list of places that people have never heard of that live here.

Kent? Brooklyn? Columbia? Andover? North Stonington? Lyme? Lebanon?

Oxford. Easton/Weston. Monroe.

I live in Lyme and count vouch for its boring factor. I also lived in Deep River for a while and that was boring as hell too. The one entertaining thing about Deep River was watching preteen kids walking around dressed in hip hop garb, thinking they were the baddest of the badass from the ghetto.
