Ms Butler has apparently been cleared to play by medical professionals, including the one who performed surgery on her left thumb,, the team physician, and Rosemary Raigle.

Now, Natalie will not play until Dr. Auriemma decides that she is really ready. Really.
I think you mean really, really, really, really, ready, don't you Kibs?

It sounds to me that Dr. Auriemma's diagnosis may have nothing to do with her medical condition. My guess is an acute case of rust or maybe a temporary case of not doing it the "coaches' way."

I have been following Uconn basketball for a long, long time. We had season tickets for men's games when they still played Georgetown at the fieldhouse. I have noticed that information regarding the women's team has become more like Belichick and his Patriots, especially regarding injuries and day to day practices. Not saying it's right or wrong, just different than it was even just a couple of years ago. Probably due in part to all of his time coaching Team USA basketball, and some it because of his coaching longevity. My impression is he knows he has to give us all some info, but, on the other hand , do we all really need to know everything going on within the " family" ?

Possibly a tightening of HIPPA laws as well. Or the players and their families don't want information about their health released.

That's true. ND did enjoy a relative amount of success not so long ago. Your "had our number not so long ago" comment, made me go back 8 years (2007-2008 season), to recount just how many games the Huskies have lost on their home court. I made the statement that Gampel Pavilion was / is not an easy place to play. Let's see how true that statement is......

In the last 8 years, UConn has played ND 14 times. UConn has won 9 of those 14. So yes sir, you're correct. ND did have UConn's number for a moment. However, that moment has passed. Notre Dame's last victory against UConn was at the XL Center on 3/11/13, 61-59. UConn has defeated ND their last 3 meetings, two of which were on national TV, on the biggest stage in WCBB .

Now, let's look at games UConn lost at home since the 2007-2008 season: (8 years)

2007-2008 (36-2) They lost @ Rutgers and to Stanford in Tampa. No home court losses.

2008-2009 (39-0) They went undefeated, so that speaks for its self. No home court losses.

2009-2010
(39-0) They went undefeated....again, so that speaks for its self. No home court losses.

2010-2011
(36-2) Lost to Stanford @ Stanford, lost to Notre Dame in Indy during NCAA tournament. No Home court losses.

2011-2012
(33-5) Lost to St. John's and Notre Dame at home. Lost @ Baylor, @ Notre Dame, and again to ND @ Denver during the NCAA Tournament. 2 home court losses.

2012-2013
(35-4) Lost to Notre Dame TWICE , and Baylor at home. They also lost to ND in South Bend. 3 home court losses.

2013-2014
(40-0) They went undefeated....again, so that speaks for its self. No home court losses. Five of those years, they lost no home games.

2014-2015
(38-1) They lost to Stanford in Palo Alto. No home court losses.

Recap - UConn has lost
five (5) games in 8 years on their home court. I'd say that's pretty impressive. Six of those eight years they were undefeated at home.
While its true that several teams have come to UConn and enjoyed a victory, those instances have been few and far between, including the last two years, and so far this year.
That sir is why I felt comfortable in making the comment about Gampel and the XL Center being a difficult place for visiting teams to play. ;)

John Altavilla of the Courant was responsible for perpetrating this "Muffet has Geno's number" B.S. When you win games by less than 10 and many by 1 in triple OT--you don't have anyones number. Geno in ONE game with a new kid who had a terrible mid season and was benched--recovered all the points given up in all the losses to Nd , and has never looked back since..
Why is it we don't read in John Atlavilla's column--Geno has Muffets number??

Oh good---I've been looking for someone who has followed Uconn BB (men and women) for a long long time----Do you remember who broadcast the Uconn men's games in the last 60's and early 70's?? Bob Erlich did the color, but who did the games??

I certainly could be wrong, but most scholarship "contracts" give, by mutual agreement, limited rights to schools to publish health information where it relates to athletic performance. I have been told this by both a college coach and several athletes. Some schools may have entirely differing policies though.

Bob? No, it was George Ehrlich on play by play and Floyd Richards on color...

Via Adamec:

Butler went through warmups but stayed on the bench as the Huskies blew the game open.

"She wasn't ready yet," Auriemma said. "When she's ready, she'll go. She just doesn't look comfortable yet. Every time she catches the ball, it doesn't look right. I'm going to wait until it looks right. We're not going to rush it."

Good enough for me.

Have not read this whole thread through.....

but am anxious to see Natalie play.... especially to find out what Geno's plan is for her on offense.... like Dolson? or true post?

But most importantly..... do not play this gal AT ALL until she is fully healed from her thumb injury.... not worth risking

As far as Muffet goes, I used to really admire her a lot. The comments/crap she started in Nashville, and then the bad taste she endorsed when Stewie won the Nat. Award was unbelievable. Kudos to N Ivey that day for the class she displayed. Having said that, she/N D are the only program that have been able to compete with us for a long period of time. They look/ looked like like a mirror image of us for a long time. Other teams with a lot of talent havnt been able to accomplish that. They won a lot of close games that we coulda shoulda woulda. Most of those years they had the talent, especially in their guard play, the talent with all the pieces and depth, and some of those years they proved they were just plain better than us. As painful as it was, it was really exciting to me to watch and experience those hm games and Big East Tmt games. I'd love for things to change, and some new rivalries emerge with teams that can compete with us. But we've had some interesting games w USF, Dayton, A & M, BYU, to name a few in recent years. We couldn't really shake N Dame last yr in the finals- they hung very tough. Neither UC or ND seams to be anything close to what we both were last year. A 25-35 pt win Sat wouldn't surprise me in the least. And once we go on our first run, I don't think anyone will let up because of the name or shamrocks on the opposing Jessie's. :)

Yep George Erlich and Floyd Richards ---I think Bruce Kern did a bit too. who ever it was ---they made listening to TIC's Uconn men's games a pleasure---they painted a visual picture better than the tV. Bob Erlich was the actor. That was when Holy Cross and UMass (Dr J) were powerhouses in the Yankee Conf.
Who was on the team with Tommy Penders--I thought Bobby Boyd but apparently he was a bit earlier.

This thread off the tracks, but Holy cross was never in the Yankee conference. They were independent in those days. Penders was on the great 64-65 kimball-bialosuknia team. Boyd arrived late 60s a year after Penders departed.

Is this political commentary masquerading as...well I'm not sure what, just that it's not basketball or basketball related.
No agenda - just responding to, "How an owner could bankrupt a casino is a wonder."
