The average for the season was 46k+, and that's over a period of 12 games. 1 game is a small sample, and that's why they call it sample. A more accurate description would be over 12 games. That would be population. Sample is not that accurate and it really doesn't tell the story of what the actual numbers are.

Would you say your 1 game against Michigan gave an accurate description of each and every capacity crowd? No.
