Eric, I don't know what she says to recruits either but my trained eye tells me Kim has a problem (Playing time) now, even before we put Cox into the mix next year.
Besides Mompremier & Brown Baylor has post players Szcepanski-FR + Cave-JR and Higgins-SR. NOONE is going to unseat Davis from a Post position in the next two years. So you are talking about 5 post players this year and 5 next year when Cox comes on board competing for 1 position-that is a problem as I see it.
How is it 5 competing for 1 position? Davis won't play 40 minutes in any game. Maybe she averages 25 for the year. As ETT mentioned above, maybe Szcepanski transfers. If Cave becomes a role player off the bench, maybe she's happy, maybe not. Higgins is a senior this year.

So basically if Szcepanski leaves, next year Cave is a senior, Mompremier and Brown are sophomores, and Cox is a Freshman. They also have Cohen - a 6'2 forward on the team. So next season you have (possibly), Cave (SR), Davis (SR), Cohen (JR), Mompremier and Brown (SO), and Cox (FR). Assuming Brown is better, probably she and Davis start. Plenty of time for the others to come off the bench. Also i'm betting Davis can play the 3 and with Jones and Prince on the floor that would be a great group of players...

I'm not disagreeing that it's going to be a challenge, but some other fans seem to be trying to make it out like it's a bad thing. If a kid is unhappy, she can transfer. I say this somewhat frequently - this is not T-league where everyone gets to play and everyone is equal. The best players will play. If others aren't satisfied for whatever reason, they can transfer. Kim will deal with that if/when it happens...

Last point - Davis is a junior. That means she's a senior when Cox is a freshman. As good as freshman posts may be coming out of HS, rarely do they start their 1st year. Plenty of time for Cox to come off the bench and potentially be a starter with Brown (for example) as a sophomore.

I almost forgot Cohen. She is very good and will be a valuable contributor to the team. What an embarrassment of riches at the post positions. This group will have to accept that there may be limited minutes in some games and like Eric said, if they are unhappy then let the chips fall where they may.

The chance of Cave transferring before her senior year is unlikely. Baylor will have a legitimate shot at a NC next season so does anyone think she is going to leave the team and have all of the hard work she has put wasted. Not likely.

You illustrate my point very well because your solution is reliant on one of the players deciding to transfer and relagating two other players to backup roles. Given the caliber of the players we are talking about this is a bad thing IMO. Also keep in mind that Kim was in a similar situation (too many player) just one year ago and was some how able to purge the rosters of Imani Wright, Micayla Buckner, and Ieshia Small only to find herself in a similar situation this year. Nina Davis played over 32 minutes per game last year and was 1st Team AA. A backup role of 8 minutes per game of Nina Davis for either the number 1 recruit in her class ( Cox) or the number 1 post in her class (Brown) is by definition another problem IMO.

ericsandiego, Williams was a top 7 player her senior year. easttexastrash, Brianna Banks transferred before her senior year knowing UCONN had a chance for a NC this year.

The fact that you think Mulkey "purged" Imani Wright from the roster shows how little you know about the Baylor team. Wright started a lot of games and was a valuable part of the team that nobody wanted to lose. I know you want Baylor's recruiting success at the post position to somehow be a bad thing, but it's not a "problem." A problem would be only having one legitimate post player coming into next season.

Had she already won a championship? Would she have left if she had not already won one, like Cave?

There is a major difference in 2 halves and 4 quarters. I can not stress this enough.

Do you think coaches will substitute more liberally with that break in between quarters to give starters more rest?

What do you think the major difference will be?

I think that coaches will substitute more as the stoppage in play will give them the forced timeout that you don't get in two halves. I just think that coaches will be more aware of managing minutes if play is stopped every 10 minutes.

Question for ETT - what do you think about Chou? I want to preface this by saying I think Cox is terrific so my comments are not mean to as a slight to Baylor...

But I've seen her play several different times for Team USA (granted only on TV) and was less than impressed. I was not at all sad that she was not interested in UCONN - and it was Ionescu that I really hoped would show interest - she's a superstar IMHO (a morph of Faris and Bird (on defense and offense) - but without Sue's pure PG skills at this time). At any rate, I know Chou has good size and to me seems like she would be a solid player (with good potential), but not one I'd count as a star, and not even a sure fire starter down the road.

Then again, I did not recruit her or see her in person, and you probably follow her much more closely than the rest of the BY did. What are your thoughts?

They have 4 forced "media timeouts" already so how is there going to be a difference? Actually since there is now only 1 media timeout per quarter the coaches will lose 1 forced timeout. Basically instead of having stoppages at 16, 12, 8, and 4 minute marks the new rules will have stoppages at the 15, 10, and 5 minute mark.

Like I said, since there are fewer timeouts the players will be tired and need a break.

I think that Chou is very fundamentally sound. Her mom, who played for the Chinese national team, is her skills coach so she has been drilled on the fundamentals. She will also be one of the best three point shooters in Baylor history and she is a very heady player that is not going to beat you with mistakes. I am not sure she has "superstar" potential but I think she will add an element that Mulkey will be able to use very well.

You must not have like what you saw in Justis because before the Cox signing you wrote this:

Word from practices is that Justis Szczepanski is the surprise of the class. After next Tuesday I will get a look for myself and I hope that I am pleasantly surprised.

This week you have her transferring:

I expect Szcepanski to transfer. She is looking at a red-shirt this season and I think that she will see the writing on the wall.

That writing on the wall could be an indication of a problem.

Happy to see Kim keeping some Texas talent in-state. It will be interesting to see which 2017 players commit to Baylor. These were two that I felt good about all along.

I believe that the FF will be held in Dallas when Jones and Davis are seniors and Chou and Cox are freshman. Would be great to send the seniors out with a NC.

Or not at all

My thoughts exactly. At best she looks like a corner specialist or perhaps a zone buster. If I'm an opposing coach and Chou is in the starting backcourt I'm pressing.

I'm with you on Ionescu. I hope Molly Bent has a great career, but I was hoping for Sabrina.
