Still playing their college seasons. While some international players are missing a few games to play for their home country in qualifying tournaments, no need for the U.S. to do this. This is not the final Olympics team. Note A'ja Wilson is not named, can't imagine her missing the Olympics.

Team USA already earned an automatic berth into 2024 Paris Olympics by virtue of its FIBA 2022 Women's World Cup championship. Two out of the three other teams in the Antwerp region (Belgium, Nigeria and Senegal) will advance to the Olympics. So this USA Team has no risk of not advancing. As nwhoopfan noted this roster does not represent the final Olympics roster but it does give other players to represent and participate in FIBA tournaments for USA Basketball.

Watched some -- but not, all -- and agree that Phee, supported well on the perimeter by Mr. Loyd, led the charge.
Thought Rhyne Howard and Jackie Young had some solid minutes, as well.

Like you said, it will take time to get all the parts meshed and not sure these are the final ones, with A'Ja Wilson not here and uncertainty with Chelsea Gray. Plus, will the committee/coaching staff want to bring some other folks in for a look in April?

FIBA has the dopiest point system for calculating standings: 2 points for a win and 1 point for a loss. Why not just tally the wins?

If you're looking at scores on FIBA's website, Kamilla Cardoso is listed as Kamilla Soares. She was definitely Brazil's best player in their opening round loss to Australia. Someone posted on another thread that Germany was the weakest team in Group A, but they beat Serbia.

If I had to guess, they (Brazilians) do this because Kamila's maternal grandfather's name was Soares, and since she's a woman, they use that as the primary last name, which is typical for Portuguese and Spanish naming conventions. Whereas her full name is Kamila Soares (maternal grandpa's name) Cardoso (paternal grandfather's name), and so in English we just treat her last last name as her last name.

In any case, Jen Rizzotti has been named head coach of U.S.A. 3x3 Olympic Team playing in Paris. Jen has had zounds of experience in this area so not a complete surprise. She'll be assisted by Tammi Reiss, HC of Rhode Island.
Will the two replicate the success of Kara Lawson who coached the Gold-Medal winning team in Tokyo?

Will be interesting to see if Katie Lou will get a chance to vie for a Gold Medal this time around. Given her recent play, she sure looks like a fave to be on the team. Who else? Would they go collegian, with Cameron Brink? Does Allisha Gray return, if she's not on the 5x5 team?

Japan just beat Canada in the early game today in Hungary(86-82).

Japan and Spain(regardless of the Spain game today, vs Hungary, are in from that group.
If Spain beats Hungary that brings Canada into the Olympics.
If Spain loses to Hungary, then Hungary qualifies and Canada is out.
