And they're on ESPN channels. Won't be hard for me to remember unlike yesterday. Completely forgot the men's First Four were on TruTV instead of TNT and CBS.

Big South Champion Longwood is up at half 36-18 over Mt Saint Mary's. At one point it was 29-9.

The Longwood Lancers advance to the main draw with a 75-70 victory over MSM. After going through the conference gauntlet filled with Powerful Purple Panthers, Blue Hose, and Fighting Camels.... they are battled tested to face off against one of the best teams in North Carolina Saturday afternoon in Raleigh.

If such thing as a front-handed insult can exist, I think I've just witnessed one.

On opening day, the two most intriguing matchups for me are...

Miami vs. South Florida
Virginia Tech vs. Florida-Gulf Coast
Those were definitely two of the "second" round games I spent a while pondering in my bracket.

Miami should win, I think. They're peaking in March, while USF peaked in late November.

FGCU is an awfully good 12 seed, but I think Virginia Tech will prevail in this one.

I'm also intrigued by the 7-10 matchups happening today:
Ole Miss vs. South Dakota
Utah vs. Arkansas
Colorado vs. Creighton

.. as well as today's other two 8-9 matchups:
Nebraska vs. Gonzaga
Kansas vs. Georgia Tech

Miami is too deep and tested. 11pt lead at half. Only Tsineke balling for USF. Playing only 6.

Hoping Kitley and King are fully healthy. Yes, players play through things but if they're hampered, it could make things tougher for them.

OK, it is as if ESPN has learned nothing from all the years of doing the Men's Tournament or the Women's tournament.

Today alone, they have 4 sets of games all going off at the same time. Why aren't they staggering the games like the Men's tournament finally caught on to do?
1:30 SC/Howard AND Ole Miss/So.Dakota
4:00 Iowa/Illinois St AND Baylor/Hawaii
7:30 Kansas/Georgia Tech AND Georgia/Dayton
10:00 Stanford/Montana St AND Oklahoma/IUPUI

I mean, come on not only is this a disservice to us die hard fans but to the casual fans as well.

#10 South Dakota drubs #7 Ole Miss.
#10 Creighton humbles #7 Colorado.

I have no idea how this could possibly happen, since folks on this board have told me repeatedly that membership in a "really tough" conference like the SEC or Pac-12 — where "every game is a dogfight" and there are "no nights off" — was an insurmountable advantage for the NCAA Tournament?

The cognitive dissonance is overwhelming me.
