Pretty amazing what 10 days (and 2 key transfer commitments) can do for the view on this board.

Doomsayers, the fact is:

Newton, Alleyne + any other additional add is a SIGNIFICANT UPGRADE FOR 2022-2023 over Gaffney, Diggins and Floyd Jr.

And I lean toward the loyalty end of thing so I would have at least liked to have kept Floyd... but since this is the reality in which college basketball exists... We had to adapt.

And Hurley and staff obviously have adapted. Quickly. Kudos to them!

Now let's round out the roster (we still need 1 more ballhandler, preferably with some reliable shooting skills) and get ready for a potentially explosive 2022-2023!

PI: Congratulations! What separated UConn from the rest of your options? What was UConn’s most consistent message to you throughout the process?

NA: From day one talking to Coach Luke (Murray), it was a different vibe. I really felt like he was being himself. Obviously all the coaches are trying to get at me, but I felt like he knew what he was talking about. They said they can help me develop my game. They watched me in EYBL and wanted me to get back to that form. I kinda felt like I was kinda distant from my normal game for a while, so they were talking about me getting back to my old ways. I watched their workout, and it was something different. It was a different aura about it, I was telling my dad this was some place I can get better at. As far as the coaching relationships, I can tell everyone has a good bond, not just coaches but the managers and advisors too. Everybody was just themselves, they were just being themselves throughout the recruitment process. Their play style is guard heavy and Coach Dan Hurley is great. I can tell his energy carries through the whole team.
Help someone get what they want, and you’ll get what you want.

I'll eat some crow. Guess this is the new age of college basketball. Can't blame DH for it, just gotta conform to the new way of doing business I guess. It seems like he got his targets so far, so kudos on that. As others have said, I guess it changes the way we view the recruitment of HS players now as god knows if they'll ever even suit up! But can't argue that it seems as if we've dramatically upgraded the talent vs the guys that transferred out. Time will tell if we upgraded vs the guys that graduated, but they were moving on no matter what.

Something that stood out to me looking at @tcf15's chart, we had no seniors except these two guys. So not only have we added talent at a position of need, it's experienced talent. I think that's really important.

Yep, I think we need to add even more experience. Losing 4 seniors who were all part of the rotation for multiple years is a lot to overcome.

If we’re starting Jackson at 4, it definitely would make sense to add 2 more guards. Rothsteins current projected lineup has no guards coming off the bench.

If we can add a couple more nice pieces to what we currently have....look out because this could be an elite team once they get comfortable with each other. I am talking possible top 5 in the country. I am really excited about next season and what we could become

do we still have four left?
So a question for you out of my respect of your opinion-- We now have 9 solid guys who are used to playing minutes -- And in the case of our new transfers-- Being the #1 or #2 option on their teams.. How do you fill out the rest of the roster spots and keep the guys already here happy? Do you fill in complimentary players so your main guys can be the focal point ? Did DH say this recruiting them??.. Or do you continue to load up with the best talent you can find and let them battle out for PT in pre-season? And do you even consider a potential SC reclass in your recruiting efforts for the upcoming season? You can only play with one ball at a time on the court.LOL

Appreciate your thoughts.
