My wife found DwellBox on Instagram and the homes look amazing.

They are about an hour outside of Cleveland. That being said, Cleveland:

Worth visiting for a night in the summer? All I know about it are burning rivers, but it can't be as bad as it sounds.

Keep in mind if this trip were to exist, it would be for an anniversary in the DwellBox.

If you're going anywhere near Cleveland I would recommend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

East 4th Street downtown is perfect for what you are talking about doing.

Great food, Michael Symon and a couple other celebrity chefs have restaurants there. Excellent local beer and shops and bars. Very walkable street set up for pedestrian traffic and outdoor eating/drinking.

Essentially the blueprint for what Pratt Street in Hartford could become.

Stay within the tree line and you can forget Cleveland is there. I hate driving up there from Columbus. I would head to Amish country and hit some antiquing while out there if it’s an anniversary trip.

I couldn’t disagree more with all of this. Cleveland rocks.

Ohio City and Tremont are both great sections. Tremont has a really good healthy food scene. Ohio City is beautiful and great food as well. Downtown ain’t bad either, and little Italy has some food gems too. It’s a lot safer than everyone thinks and as long as you’re west of CSU or not east of UH area. Cleveland gets a lot of crap but it’s a) along a gorgeous lake (just stay away from the cayuhuga lol), b) it’s got a lot of young professionals and c) it has a developing food scene.
Add in that the airport is easily accessible and it’s a city with a lot of potential. I always love going to Cleveland.

Did a road trip like 15 years ago and stopped in Cleveland for a night. People talk trash about the city but I had fun, I’ll never bash it. Went to an Indians game, rock and roll hall of fame and ate/drank in the Warehouse District. I think since I’ve been there they added a casino.

Not in all categories.
Better food, schooling and infrastructure. Much worse congestion, housing prices, airport. Buffalo wins the battle of the tri cities in my mind (don’t know if they’re called that but having lived in NW PA I loved having the 3 cities within 100 minutes)

If your plan is to visit treehouses then you’ll have fun (though there may not be much else out there).

You could also do a night in or around the city. It’s got fun things downtown like the R&R HOF and the Jake, plus around University Circle you’ll find museums and the like, good food on West Side market, but it’s less a place to visit and more a place with a high quality of life.

I don't know the city too well but I know it's gotten really dangerous for residents in recent years like many Midwest cities. I have several friends from there and they're really upset about what's happening. The city seemed to be rebounding after decades of so many people leaving but it's not in a good place overall now.

My most vivid recollection of Cleveland is flying over it in the 1970’s .
The city wasn’t visible due to a red haze that hung over it . I remember thinking how do humans survive in that atmosphere . I never realized that the it once had a large steel industry. Of course like more famous Pittsburgh it’s long gone.
Of course I was coming back from visiting plants inn Chicago ,and Indiana , and places like Motorola , RCA ,, Western Electric and *GM Kokomo when the US was still making Televisions, Telephones. and car radios and returning to a then heavily industrialized Connecticut.
* That same plant was resurrected during COVID to manufacture ventilators.

If your the adventurous type, there's Cedar Point, Americas Roller Coast. Golden Ticket award winner numerous times as the best amusement park in the world. Had a seasons pass for many years and is now a destination for many people. Only about a hour and fifteen minutes west of Cleveland and is right on Lake Erie in Sandusky. If you go have fun.

I had to work in Cleveland for few days. Right on the lake. Not like a big city but much larger than a small one. Lots of good restaurants. Like a lot of American cities it's basically pretty vanilla. Didn't go the Rock ' Roll Hall of Fame. That's the big deal there. People that went seemed to like it.

There's no reason to go there. There's no reason to avoid it.

If you're driving, it's a haul. I stopped there on my way to KC via Chicago. If you're flying, then I'd have to say...why Cleveland? For a summer Anniversary trip near the woods, maybe Burlington?

I live in the Cleveland area. We have a world class art museum. The Rock&Roll HOF is a great visit. You can't believe how small Mick Jagger is (judging by his outfits on display) about the size of 5th grader. There is the Great Lakes Science Center, adjacent to the R&RHOF. Lots of good restaurants. My son is a relief captain of the Nautica Queen which has lunch and dinner cruises.

I've never heard of DwellBox before but it looks lovely. You might want a downtown experience after being in the woods.

Haven’t been post pandemic so my comments are a bit dated

4th restaurants are great…especially when there is a baseball/hoops game. You can walk to the stadiums so if she likes sports it’s a great combo

Not much going on near downtown/lake when I was there. But would recommend the rock n roll HOF.

I wouldn’t spend an extended time there but for a day/night there’s plenty

Cleveland gets a bad rap. It is home to three professional sports franchises, hockey is about 2 hours away (Columbus), and it seems like there are plenty of other attractions. It's got its good and bad parts just like any city, but IMO it certainly should not be ragged on for the sake of being ragged on by a message board based in Greater Hartford.
