My guess: Houston wins and we play at night next Saturday. Memphis wins and we play at 3 or 4 next week.

OUTSTANDING atmosphere in Houston tonight, as there should be. It's a huge game down there. Stadium is full and all red.

Hope this game puts on a show and starts an AAC vs ACC comparison across the country.

Crowd has caused 2 false start penalties in 3 plays.

Does anyone remember a Big East game being as big as this? I don't, but my memory isn't what it used to be.

A sold out stadium in Houston. It looks good for the AAC.

Backyard Brawl when Pitt knocked off WVU and destroyed their NC game hopes. But I'd say this is the biggest game since then. There are more big games to come too.

2 key things I'm looking for tonight.

1) Memphis Pass Defense. It's been atrocious this year, and their defense in general has been pretty bad (See: SMU, Navy, Bowling Green, Cincy, and Kansas). If they can hold Houston to 3 TD's or less, I have high hopes that we can hold Houston to 2 TD's and a FG at worst.

2) Houston Lines. I've heard they are one of the toughest this year on both sides of the ball by protecting the ball carrier and getting to the opposing QB/RB. Not trying to wish any injury on anyone, but if one of them goes down, it would help us.

So far, Memphis DL > Houston OL. They're getting all sorts of pressure especially when Houston tries to take shots down the field. If the OL can protect better, then I think Houston can move the ball in the air. Mostly FR I think.

Trying to think...Rutgers, USF and WVU all were ranked headed down the stretch in maybe 2008 or 2009? They played some pretty exciting games then

Cincy beat Pitt in a shootout in 2009 at season's end, 46-45. Cincy was 11-0 going in and Pitt was 9-2. Winner got the BCS bowl bid. That was a big one (post-ACC/BE raid I).

Liking our chances against Houston next week. Our defense holds them and we put up some decent offensive numbers. I'm relentlessly optimistic, but we win next week.

I will say this: if Houston loses tonight, it will be pretty tough for them to go from this game and this atmosphere to next weekend, in the cold, in front of what will surely be 5-10K empty seats. Hopefully we will be able to get a jump on them early.

Just have our schedule saved, so pulled these games...

2007:
#6 West Virginia @ #23 Cincinnati, WVU wins and remains in first place in late November

2008:
#2o Pittsburgh @ #19 Cincinnati, Thanksgiving weekend for the Big East title

2009:
#8 Cincinnati @ #21 South Florida on a Thursday night
#25 West Virginia @ #5 Cincinnati in November on a Friday night
#5 Cincinnati @ #15 Pittsburgh, last game of the season for the BE title and BCS bid

wow...totlly unimpressed with Houston and USF is manhandling Temple. UCONN looks better and better against these 2.

Memphis looks like a team possessed tonight. Dominating both sides of the ball.

This isn't going well for Houston. Now Ward just went down.

Aaaaaaaand down goes Houston's QB. I hope he's okay but boy, I'm anxiously awaiting the opening line for our game now.

If there's ever been more pressure on a backup QB, let me know. Houston desperately needs points on this drive to close out the half.

Houston WR just taunted the DB on that TD...no flag.

Huge drive for Houston. Backup QB looks like a better thrower than Ward.

These taunting penalty calls are the most inconsistent thing in the world.

Houston had less than 20 yards of total offense before that last drive. That kid showed major chops on that drive.

Looking like we can pull one of these last two games out after all, ay?
