If Temple and Memphis go independent in football in order to find a safe haven for their basketball programs, I'd be ok with scheduling them in football from time to time.
Memphis aint going indy and pay an exit fee. They're holding out for a B12 invite during round 2.
Also, they will be a FB power in the new AAC. No reason to leave.

Good luck to them on that - it might be a year or two or 5 years or never. Well, yea they should be a football power in that league record-wise but it doesn't make them a national power of any sort (their FB SOS won't allow it). So, while they might not need to leave the AAC right away, each year that passes increases their motivation to do so.

I think ultimately that Memphis, Tulsa, Wichita State, and SMU will stay in the league and not go to the MW, but I feel that Temple will eventually leave. The geography of the conference is bad for them, the basketball has fallen off, and going independent in football may not be that bad with us, UMass, and Army three ready-made opponents yearly.

Among the remaining G5 schools, these additions rate about
A (UAB)
B (FAU, UTSA)
C (Rice, Charl)
D (UNT)

Pretty sad that that's the best they can do.

This was somehow an even worse list than I expected when I opened the thread
Yeah, I don’t really know if there were better options but they should have gone with “less is more” here.
