USC used up whatever they got yesterday. 0-8 shooting to start, down 8-0.

If you've watched Stanford, we'll have a clunker of a quarter that makes this game closer than it should be, but if Lacie, Lexie, and Ashten are all hitting from three, watch out.

23-5 thru Q1. USC shooting 2-19. Somehow I don't see them shaking off an icy start the same way Oregon St. did (a large part of that is because they are playing Stanford, not Oregon).

USC shooting just 10.6% as they trail 23-5 at the end of 1Q.

How much of the poor shooting do you attribute to the Stanford Defense or just USC having an off day after being scorching against ASU?

Some of both. USC certainly is not a 65% shooting team, so the universe is overcompensating to bring them back down to their average today.

Brink is stonewalling Pili. Cameron got off to a slow start on offense, but has it going in Q2.

Tara pulled Brink just when she was getting going. Why? Now Stanford on a long scoring drought. Still a huge lead, but don't understand the decision there.

How long can USC sit in a zone? 4 triples for Jump now. 40-16.

43-16 at the half. Kiana got her first bucket a minute ago, 'Furd has to feel good about the way things are going even with her scoring all half.

Right? I was going to say, if you told me Stanford was winning by 27 at the half with Williams shooting 1-5, I would ask for some of what you're smoking. It's really helped that Jump has become a consistent shooter off the bench. I can't overstate her impact this season with her ability to score, along with Prechtel and Brink being dangerous from three.

Lacie should do the right thing and hand that 6th player of the year award over to Jump.

We have reached the point in the broadcast where they go out of of their way to hype up the team who is getting blown out by 30. So predictable. USC has gotten destroyed in 4 of their last 5 games. What is there to hype?

A phenomenon called "Regression to the Mean", a term first coined for athletics but now applied to many aspects of life. I experienced that in bowling recently. Two weeks ago, I had my best bowling night in 5 years...the next week, I had my worst bowling night in 25 years...and after all of those acrobatics was over, my average over those six games was close to my average for the entire season.

Now Lacie is lighting it up, 3-3 behind the arc. Team is 13-27.

67-34 thru Q3. Will any starters return in Q4 for Stanford or is their day done?

Deep bench players trying to push the lead to 40 for Stanford.

22 minutes for Williams, 21 for Jones, nobody else more than 20 for Stanford. They're gonna be quite well rested tomorrow while OSU is probably getting fatigued.

Honestly, I think that's the big bonus of having such a deep bench come tourney time. Stanford will hopefully keep being able to rest their players to keep them fresher.
