Wonder if the injuries are limiting and are delaying the call. Just a week out, crap.

Gotta think a lingering injury or two may be effecting the decision? Hard time believing this is pure gamesmanship after Mora/Charlton's comments last week.

Officially put me in the nagging injury camp.

Everything we have heard from the coaches the past two weeks pointed towards Roberson as the QB. Then, Friday we hear about how all three of the top QB's are dinged up a bit.

Tough to go in to game prep for week 1 without a QB. At this point whomever is named is the healthiest of the three, and not necessarily the best QB throughout camp or the choice as season long QB.

I'll also add this QB situation and moving timeline is a reason UConn can keep a coach like Mora happy. In the NFL or at UCLA you don't get to just keep delaying and delaying the decision without round the clock news and fan commentary. You are hounded by the decision and every nuance in his comments is picked apart.

At UConn? You just put out a press release or make a statement and it dies on the vine.

Regardless of a lingering injury, can still today name that player as the starter. If his injury doesn’t improve enough to start, then start #2 on game day.

It's not just naming the starter. It's having the starter being able to line up and take all the snaps each practice to run the offense and learn the game plan for NC St. If you don't have a QB who can do that each day for the next week, you don't have a starter.

-> There was a miscommunication after the coaching staff decided instead to close Wednesday’s practice to the media. Members of the media, who were not relayed the message that practice was closed, showed up Wednesday and were dismissed from practice.

It appears practices will be closed for the remainder of the week. <-

It's not a big deal they haven't named a starter (heck, I wouldn't care if we only found out who the starter was by who was behind center the first drive vs. NC State). But what I don't get is say you're going to announce it one day, move the date, and then move the date again? Just keep your mouth shut if you're going to be weird about it.

At the end of the day, the best (healthy) man for the job will be under center next Thursday. It is what it is.

They already know who the starter is… if they’re having a closed practice must be for a good reason and probably don’t want media to have any type of videos being recorded from practice.

Regardless no one sounds too dinged up. Also, our QB depth is way better than last year. Relax people

Even under the Mora regime we continue to absolutely flop in terms of PR. Just dont say anything if you arent ready to announce a QB1. Why put yourself in this situation to begin with?

Correct. The flip flop and "miscommunications" about this are 100% self-inflicted. This is what I was referencing when I said there is no pressure to get this right. In a bigger spotlight, the staff gets hammered on this and up wasting time and energy dealing with it.

At UConn they just move the goal post on the decision and the coaches move on to coaching.

Isn't that normal during game week prep? Usually only one media day per week during the season?

The problem is if #2 has a lights out game and sparks an upset, now you've got a (self-inflicted) QB controversy. There's no advantage gained by announcing now if you aren't sure.

Master of the obvious comment here.

It's safe to say most, or all of us, want to see a more dynamic passing game. The longer these QB's are rotating through due to managing injuries the harder it is to get that passing game fine tuned.

From everything we know the OLine is set and experienced. Also, RB's look stacked and healthy going in to game 1. WR corps is healthy and reported to be an upgrade.

Only thing missing is a QB who can make the passes that aren't dump offs to RB's or TE's.

And it's going to suck if we don't have a QB who can sling it to keep defenses acting defensively and not stacking the box.
