Lou has a habit of scoring as many points as the opposition, like Kaleena in the second half of the California title game. She's a shooter AND a scorer.

By the way Lou's first 7 points in the game were from the FT line. She was fouled(hacked) twice on lay ups and then fouled on a three point shot. Made them all(pity the fool that fouls her)
She made 12 of 13 from the FT line, hit the first 12 in a row.

Unofficial I heard that Geno wants to see her play again. Lous next game is at home Friday night. Geno would have to take a Friday night red eye back to NYC then the drive to Storrs for game vs Memphis at 2pm. If Lous team wins on Friday the championship game would be the following Friday or Saturday(yet to be determined) He could take the same red eye back to NYC if it was a Friday game to make the first AAC tournament game on Sat afternoon March 7th.

If Lou's team wins he could make it for the State playoffs(Mater Dei is currently in the Southern Section playoffs) which would be the off week between the AAC and the NCAA tournament. If I hear anything I will let ya know.

Um, I think that's a pretty good compliment.
The coach of Brea, Jeff Sink, coached his team against KML's MD team, I think 3 times.
He also was the coach of one of the teams in the WBCA HS All Star game in 2010 in San Antonio, which had a lot of talented players too.

He just wants to make sure she's the real thing before she shows up in
Storrs and he's past the point of no return...

First time I have seen tape on Irwin and I love her midrange to 3pt range game. That will be a big tool for her next year when she faces bigger players in the post.

Kyla Irwin is not listed in ESPN'S Top 100. She could be the next Morgan Tuck. A Geno Coup waiting to happen?

This kid looks like my favorite kind of player: the blue collar one. Bring the lunch pale and just go to work. I already know she's going to be a favorite the first day she steps on campus.

I dunno. She's obviously shooting 100%. Due for a drop off any year now.
But seriously, she's comfortable with the ball and has a reasonably quick release.

Saw this tweet about the game Mater dei played the other night. Apparently some of the student body for Brea(the loser) were calling out to KLS

"@coachVargas31 Great crowd Brea v MD Brea usually pretty wild with their comments first time I've heard "Katie marry me" LOL" @33katielou

Of course if they had said "Lou" marry me they might have got a response.

One other note from the game. I got to the game about 45 minutes early. Both teams were on the court for their early stretches and warm ups. Except Lou. She was sitting on the bench, by herself and seemed in a "zone". I dont know if she does this all the time as I normally dont get o the games that early. I will try and find out if this was just for the game the other night, Big game vs other top rival OC team, or she does it for all games. I wish I took a picture.

Should be in ESPN top 50 right now. Her game does resemble Morgan Tucks. She is going to be a solid player I'm impressed. She improved a lot from her sophomore year to her Jr.
Way to go Kyla

2/26

Blackman cruised to the finals of their regional and will play in the championship tomorrow. They've already qualified for the sectional round next week.

Crystal Dangerfield had 9 points and 4 assists in about half the game.

Unfortunately, Kyla Irwin's season came to an end with a tough loss Thursday night. State College had the lead until a basket with less than 6 seconds to go put them behind by a point. Irwin missed a last second three.

She finished with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.
