When we get to Texas, I'm going to need the hotel your staying at so you can buy some drinks.

Good luck! Sportsbook taxes are not deducted at all on your winnings unless your wager meets both of these requirements; (a) it must pay more than $600 AND (b) must be odds of 300-1 or greater. So at 150/1 the casino will just give you a check for $105,000.00 and your $700 back in cash (you will get (4) 25k chips and 1 5k chip plus the $700 cash). Tip around $100 to the book and $100 to the cage. The casino won't deduct anything because of the bolded rules above. You will not receive a W-2G. The casino will file something called a CTRC-N (If I remember correctly) so you HAVE TO give your SS#, address ect...and then this form is sent to the IRS. You have to pay taxes on it when you file. For you around 23k on your winnings for State and Federal. Plus your bank will also red flag the deposit.

You could use multiple banks and NOT have any single deposit over 10K or 2 or more transactions within 24 hours totaling over 10K. If there is a pattern of deposits at one bank within a year that appear to be avoiding the 10K threshold...the bank will take note. It is possible around 50K could be handled without the IRS finding out. 100k prolly NOT. lol

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You would have to shop around for the best odds R because in 2013-14 only 1 book had UConn at 85/1. At some books it was as low as 25 or 30 to 1. That 55k is a decent amount for a futures by just shopping. If you timed your buys right you easily would be up over a quarter mill gross over that time frame with a 1k basis.

I placed one in 2013-14 at 45 to 1 odds. Stupidly I only put down $20. Also unfortunately, I did not place another one at the beginning of the tournament when their odds had increased to 65 to 1. If I had been smart and just doubled down my piddly $20 at the start of the tourney, I would have won over $2K. Oh well...

That's why a group of us (including you of course) should meet up in Vegas at the end of the summer or early Fall. I know we can get some discount air & hotel as a group. We could even pool together a futures pick or 2 (doesn't even have to be UConn). You are not stupid at all! You had fun and that is the most important thing Brodie!

Since you can offset gambling winnings with gambling losses - just start picking up losing tickets in the racebook. Well not quite yet I guess - but at least your resolution is easy.

Wasnt UConn 100-1 in 2014 before the tournament in many sportsbooks?

With the Gibbs rumor crystalizing, you are now looking like a genius.

Having the best team in UConn history (on paper) seems like a good time to throw down a bet on 150-1.
