Because of his closeness to his family, Outlow said he hopes he can remain in New England. His sister, Cebria, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Central Connecticut State University and play basketball for the Blue Devils.
If it's BCS, it's UCONN. Or, the 1-Aish transitioning mess in Amherst.

Outlow had an injury-plagued high school career, he's been injury-plagued at BC. He will wow you with his combine performances, but it hasn't translated to the football field. I saw Outlow play plenty when he was at NFA, he often shied away from contact with the ball in his hands. He could use his speed to outrun edge defenders in HS, but I never saw him lower his shoulder to get that extra two yards after contact. He has the size and speed coaches covet, but his toughness was and still is a question mark, as well as his ability to stay healthy. I spoke out strongly against his recruitment by UConn before, I stand by that now. I wish him well wherever he lands, as long as it's not in Storrs.

As for Alston, guys on here complain about Newsome being too small. Alston is 5'6, 163 WR/PR.

So if he lands at uconn you'd rather be be less successful than if he landed somewhere else?

Huh?

If I'm coach, I'm not wasting roster spots on guys who didn't work out elsewhere until it's a sure upgrade to what I have in an are of need I can't fill by recruiting.

We have enough RB's coming through the system for '17. Now if they guy was a 310 lb guard with a mean streak...

I thought Adozio did a nice job his first two years at BC cleaning up the absolute mess Spaziano left behind. This season, seeing what they called an offense and his antics on the sidelines, I'm not sure BC doesn't have another problem on their hands. If they do, they could go into a very bad tailspin.

Of course, they always have hoops to fall back on. Rumor has it that they might make a serious run at an NIT bid in the next 5 or so seasons. :p

Sadly, you just described our QB recruiting for the last 10 years... and you're right.

I mean, Shakim Phillips had solid talent and played some good games for us but got hurt all the time, and then left. That's about the ceiling for an inter-program transfer of someone who had a chance to play at their last school and it didn't work out.

Whatever people think of whether Newsome is big enough to be an every down TB, neither he (nor Alston) is too small to try to duplicate Larry Taylor.

Huh. Not Alex Mateas? Not Zach Frazer? Not Graham Stewart?

Shak Phillips is hardly the cieling for a transfer.

My point was, they were four-stars out of high school and when they showed up here, they didn't play at a four-star level. Each probably had the same thoughts that Outlow is thinking right now (it's not me, it's the system), but it's likely that they were overrated at the outset.

That's OK -- if they're better than what we have, we should take them on -- but we shouldn't expect Rivals' rankings to be accurate four years after the fact when they were inaccurate 1-2 years after the fact.

...and I think that if Shakim had stayed healthy (and had someone else throwing to him) he would have been as good as any of those guys.

I don't know where you brought Rivals ratings into the discussion from. But it would seem obvious that once a kid has played a year the most relevant evaluation is how he performed in college.

Do you think someone was actually arguing about that? What does that have to do with the fact that we should kill to get a guy who averaged 8 yards a punt return in the ACC?

Adazzio had that qb transfer from FSU last year. He made a big difference.

kris1 - I like what you bring to the boneyard and I appreciate your insight ... especially recruiting and the high school game. But I don't think your opinion of Outlow can be taken with a high degree of objectivity, given your ties to a specific region and specific players. That doesn't mean that what you think and write about Outlow isn't 100% correct ... it just means I wouldn't not be interested in Outlow based on your opinion.

It was actually the Florida QB from Glastonbury, not from FSU. He also had an offensive line that consisted of 5 5th year seniors, including a graduate transfer from Florida. He also took grad transfers from UConn in Philips at WR and Ty-Meer Brown at S who both saw significant playing time. They were totally gutted on offense after last year.

With no RBs committed thus far, I have no problem bringing in Outlaw. There were also no RBs in last year recruiting class.

Taylor switched to slot receiver after his (IIRC) Sophomore year.

Well, that's a pretty definitive statement to be based on a sample size of.....one.

I question wasn't given a chance comment? Was given over 50 attempts as a true freshmen. I saw him play live a few times in state playoffs...was mostly a no show in those games.

Isn't our QB a transfer?

If Outlow wants to come here and HCBD sees a role for him, bring him in. In 17 our projected depth chart is Arkeel and RonJon and .............

I was more intrigued by the other BC transfer - the specialist. We need something more in our PR/KR game and putting our workhorse back there can't be the best long-term solution.

I hate all things BC, but I don't think we should comment on transfers - others and ours. There are many reasons things don't work out. The only people who know the truth are the player, his family and the coaching staff. If a kid fits our system, is a RKG and is interested in us and can get into UCONN academically, then by all means we should look at him.

On a side note, our heard the Dazzler speak about his 5 year plan and he thought this was the year where there would be a bump in the road and next year the team would be better. He better find a QB quickly though.

If we're correcting other people's mistakes, he is from Wethersfield, not Glastonbury.
