@WisBBYearbook: Hearing that former Milw. Custer and Southern forward Calvin Godfrey may land at UConn. Has 1 year of eligibility left and can play now.

According to ESPN he averaged 13.1ppg and 8.8rpg. 6'9" 210lbs.

Heard it will take a lot of work on the admissions side of things.

I did hear he was on campus recently, too.

Sounds like an APR disaster waiting to happen. Might be nice to have another option at the 4 though, if Facey and Lubin don't pan out.

I just hope he's not a problem with the chemistry of the team. In Ollie we trust.

Worth a shot . If academics are in order why not. I would trust KO. on this. I would like one more player for next year if it fits.

No idea where his transcript is at, so I won't bother to speculate.

On the court...oh, f---, sign him up.

He's bigger than 210 pounds and he's just a terror on the boards. Not sure if it's online, but if it is, watch him against Florida earlier this year.

People grow and mature. Hopefully issues are behind him and w/o knowing we can't speculate his grades. I am probably spoiled with the success' s we have had with Evans an Kromah.

During KO's coaching career he's gonna bring in an ocassional " risky" player. This may be his first.

If I am not mistaken, the only way he could play right away is if (1) he graduated from the last school. This also means that he would have to be (2) accepted into Graduate School at UConn (purportedly the issue that prevented Justin Martin from being able to transfer from Xavier).
I do not doubt that Mr. Godfrey had academic problems in the past. However, if (1) & (2) are true, it doesn't add up that he would be an academic risk at present.

He is still an undergrad- he received his release from Southern U, which, I believe, makes him eligible to play right away.

I've never seen this scenario before for a UConn player, but I assume that means since he already sat out a year, then he can now transfer, even though that year was not at UConn?

...nope, he played at Southern last season, so he must be a grad transfer.

He has only played two years. 10-11 ISt. and Southern 13-14 as a junior. Not sure what he did the two years in between. I assume he had to sit out one year. He most likely did graduate this year. I agree with hh that he must be a grad. student to be playing right away.

He spent two years at Howard College in Texas. (EDIT: I'm wrong - he spent two years at Southern, but only played one.)

I gotta assume he's a graduate transfer otherwise I can't think of a situation where he would have a blanket release to sign anywhere and play immediately.
