OMG. Well, not really, as IMHO she needs to play somewhere that complements her strengths and will prep her for the WNBA.

It was shortsighted of her to go to LSU, so good for her to correct the mistake! Looks like she's taking her basketball career seriously. I wish her the best of luck.

Back to the ACC? (Syracuse, Stanford, and Virginia Tech come to mind) or Try out the B1G (too many to name, but if you can get to USC, then go for it!)?

She’d be a good replacement for Hannah Jump at Stanford, where I felt she should’ve gone to begin with.
Huh? Jump was a 3 point specialist. I think she did improve on other things, but still nearly 3/4 of her shots during her career were behind the arc. Van Lith is an entirely different kind of player.

Yeah I like it for her. Not to get too deep but I appreciate her journey. Life is all about trial and error and taking chances. No shame in something not going perfectly. Especially for such a young adult. As bandwagonny as it may have seemed, the flip side is, it was a championship or bust all eyes on you situation she entered at LSU which is pretty difficult. She really was forced to play the point guard. Ideally she would've learned how to get everyone involved. But I never loved their offense. They didn't play her and Poa together nearly as much as I thought they would. Anyways I'm sure she'll have someone mentioned Kentucky which I think is super interesting. I think and this is going to sound dumb but she has to develop as a shooter, and ball handler. I get she's not really a point but I felt she struggled bringing the ball up the court and then knocking down open baskets. Kenny Brooks is kinda been lauded as good at player development. I think Amoore and Hailey Van Lith athletically r completely different tho, with Amore being a bit more explosive

Where do we think she will end up? Baylor? Ohio St? Oregon St? She’s going to go somewhere where she can get a shot at a ring. LA schools have too many guards already. I don’t think she will end up at Stanford. It’s rare they accept transfers, much less graduate transfers.

Well, Cal needs a point guard. She'd get lots of playing time, could get a great graduate degree in any number of disciplines....

Fair question to ask, but when looking at who's leaving, I don't think so. Moving to the BIG12 may be seen as a drop...
Let's not let one good regular season cloud our judgement - if anything, the Big 12 is a step up from the Pac 12's baseline.

This post makes zero sense. Kansas State and Colorado just had some of their bests seasons ever. Unless their coaches take a job someplace else, Jeff Walz isn't going to be going there. Also, at this point Louisville is a better job than either of those two programs.

They're going to miss her leadership on that roster. Initial guess is that this is grad school related, similar to Collins.
I'm surprised she gets a 6th year. I thought she played too many games to get the year she was injured back but I guess not.

Not surprised to see Hailey Van Lith in the portal. Things didn't work well for her at LSU. I didn't understand why she left Louisville, the team was built to her strengths and she was the face of the program.

It's clear to me she isn't a PG but maybe under the right coach she could still show some growth. This year she struggled shooting and distributing the ball, but that was in part due to the LSU offense that was pretty much throw up shots and let Angel or Morrow get the rebouns for putbacks.

My post isn't implying that he's leaving for any of those jobs. I'm saying if he leaves follow him. For the record Colorado's coach has been thrown around in a few possibilities. But know what I linking Walz to Colorado or Kan St

I think she can help somebody, but probably isn't considered good enough after this year to be the missing piece on a championship contender, or become a likely WNBA player. She is a pretty good undersized SG who doesn't bring much to the table outside of scoring.

Before the LSU experiment she was considered a marginal WNBA prospect as a too small SG who needed to show she could play some point guard. LSU was her opportunity to show point guard skills, and now that question has been answered, unfortunately for her in the negative. Now she will be viewed just as an undersized SG with no other pro level skills other than scoring. It is what it is, I think she can play for pay in Europe, but not here, and while she was a big name transfer last year, I don't expect top programs to be chasing her that much this year, but maybe they will.

My take on Hailey Van Lith.

Some publication wrote a puff piece prior to the LSU-Iowa game that tried to position Hailey Van Lith at peace with her decision to "get better" and doing so at LSU. I never bought why this couldn't happen at Louisville because Coach Jeff Walz gave her the keys to the court and encouragement -- in his own Walzie way -- to boot.

That said, she looked absolutely miserable at LSU. If Kim Mulkey shared any teaching/insight on playing the point, it sure wasn't apparent. I'm used to seeing Hailey Van Lith confident -- even cocky -- here she looked unsure of what to do next at times. Go to the WNBA? She has to go somewhere to rebuild her confidence.

To do that, she's got to be in sync with a coach who will tell her how she'll be used, what he/she can help with and be realistic. BTW, IMO, that isn't being a true point guard: Hailey Van Lith is a combo guard, with an emphasis on scoring. In that respect, she reminds me a bit of Dara Mabrey, who wanted to be a lead guard, tried but realized she's a scorer ... and played well next to Olivia Miles. Can Hailey Van Lith find her "Miles?" Kiki Rice at UCLA?

I suspect Hailey Van Lith was hoping to win a championship in going to LSU. Now I would think going to a place that will increase her stature for the WNBA would be as important a consideration. I wish her well, whatever she decides to do.

I could see Van Lith fitting into a Kenny Brooks system. She and Amoore would make a fantastic duo if they both ended up at Kentucky.
The both of them could work together. I'd be concerned with the lack of size defensively, Amoore is 5'6 and Hailey Van Lith is listed at 5'7 but that is generous. The better teams in the SEC would exploit that on a nightly basis.

Isn't this the Garzon who played at Villanova her freshman year? Headed to her 3rd school? Yikes.
I would agree with "yikes" if she doesn't get her degree. If she gets her degree and then ends up going to Indiana to play with her younger sister, I have no issues with that.

This 100+. She was the center of the team and for better or worse she and Walz seemed to work together. We never know what goes on behind the scenes yet transfers like hers are the ones I shake my head at because she was the leader of a successful program and seemed to fit the personality of the coach.

I do wish her well whever she winds up.

So Hailey Van Lith left Louisville to chase a title. Is that still the aspiration? If so Stanford might make sense (do they accept grad transfers??). Or else USC... Can't really think of any other landing spots that offer a title shot...
