Terrible news indeed. Fortunately she can do almost all the fitness drills in spite of her injured hand. Hope she's ready to go come January... If not, another redshirt year and we will have her for 3 years subsequent.

I feel terrible for her - she was so psyched to get into a game after sitting all last year. The positive, if there is one, is that hand injuries are not weight bearing, and rarely become recurring problems. Hopefully she can keep her conditioning work up and hit the court running once she is cleared.

We can hypothesize why and how we don't need Butler--but wasn't it a bit more comfy when an 6 ft 5" (hopefully Steff like) was sitting there waiting to come in?? Big bad bummer..

A few big differences however:

1. Butler has practiced with UConn for over a year and knows what is expected at both ends of the court.

2. Butler had a year of experience playing extensive minutes in a power-conference league while at Georgetown.

3. Butler is a junior and presumably more mature and not having to adjust to college life.
