Louisville gets a verbal from a player with past UConn interest, Kylee Shook of Colorado. She visited them recently at the same time as Tori McCoy and Lauren Cox. Her father has some interesting comments on her decision.

Jerry Shook said Walz is positioning the Cards for great things in the coming years

“Honestly, I think Coach Walz has a good shot at knocking Geno off the throne,” he said, referring to Connecticut coach Geno Auriemma.

The 6'4" Shook is ranked 35th by Prospects Nation, 53rd by ASGR, not top 60 in Hoopgurlz (11th Post), and 62nd by Blue Star.

Jeff is a good salesman. Geno is a better saleman. Jeff offers a Dream of beating UConn. Geno offers a Dream of Winning National Championships.

If you beat UConn you have a pretty good chance to win a NC.

Hmm:

The best player UL (women) has produced (Angel) has at least twice publicly lamented that Geno did not recruit her. What message does that send?!?

And, how about "you snooze on a commit, you lose" Durr = settling for her next best option after others take the spot she thought would wait for her.:(

As JS said - bring it on...

I think it's great that Walz has big goals. At least he knows who he needs to beat to get there...how many other coaches do you think mention Geno when recruiting? Plus, I'm not sure we would have beaten Baylor in 2013 if they hadn't knocked them off for us. Maybe, but not definitely. So that would have ruined our undefeated NC streak :)

Walz didn't even recruit McCaughtry did he? I thought she was already there when he arrived.

I think Angel has publicly stated that she is a much better now basketball player after having played for Geno on USA Basketball.

Wish everyone well but sure Geno is smiling he won't have to deal with Papa Shook. You win some and lose some. Only time will tell but this could be a win for the Huskies!

Well seriously guys, what do you expect Jeff to say? He has a pair of really solid freshmen this year in Moore and Hines-Allen, has a really good class next year headlined by Durr, and then Cole, Degrate, Jones and Feuhring, and now Shook... and he's not done. L'ville is still very much in the hunt for other top prospects in 2016. One thing that has really hurt them IMHO against teams like UCONN are post players with size. Now with Degrate, Feuhring, and Shook so far, he's putting together some solid players.

Will they be more like Vails or more like Jess Moore? That remains to be seen, and I know other top post players have recently been to visit L'ville as well. He's doing what he needs to do to try to challenge UCONN.

Before you can knock Geno off the Throne you have to climb Mount Storrs. It is defended by 10-15 incredibly tough warriors called UConn Huskies.

I'm all for using stats to prove a point, but it seems a bit of a cheap shot to limit your totals to 5 years, when you know that the year before that in 2008-09 he went 34-5 with mainly Angel and got to the NC game. Give Jeff his due, he has been to the NC game twice in the last 6 years, and the only other coaches who have been there two or more times in that span are Geno and Muffet. Louisville may have a long way to go to get to UConn's level, but unless you're a Cards hater like a usual bunch on the BY, they should have the straight facts told about them. But one thing your abridged list did show was the Cards improving every single year.

Maybe we would have won and Stewie/s domination would have helped getting someone like Turner to boot, and then we would have been going on a multi year run of undefeated seasons.

Walz actually recruited Angel when he was at Maryland. She went prep for a year and ended up at U of L. Then Walz showed up. So, yes, in a sense, he did recruit her.
