LB4E - welcome - don't remember your previous posts. Mulkey is definitely a good coach, but she has also picked and chosen her games against the schools you list - started a Uconn series when she had Griner and immediately dropped it when Griner left and I think the same with a few of the other programs. Her OOC the last few years (with a young team admittedly) has been very weak. And while she is fiery on the sidelines, I have not been overly impressed with in-game adjustments. I know the Louisville game is a sore spot, but she spent so much time being angry with the refs that she didn't coach the team to get out on the 3 point shooters, or get Griner moving more to open lanes for Sims, or ...

Great post.. However, Muffet's Championship was no fluke in my view; she simply out coached the UCONN staff. UCONN's best players were playing in that game - another whole conversation. As a matter of fact, when the talent level of the players are close (post Diggins), the ND staff has held its own against UCONN.

Buzzyboy - - -You are dismissing two All-Americans by your remark. Having Svet and Shea off the court surely was beneficial to Notre Dame overcoming a big half time lead. Does anyone with a rational mind not believe that two outstanding AND SEASONED players like Ralph and Abrosimova would have had the wherewithal and abilities to prevent the kind of collapse that UConn had in the second half that got Notre Dame back in the game and ultimately won the game for them???? UConn's best players were NOT playing in that game!!!!!!!!

Buzzyboy & huskysouth- - - On a past GENO SHOW on SNY with Sue Bird he asked her if she has forgiven him now for going insane at 1/2 time of the UCONN vs ND FF semi game and she said she has, but it wasn't necessary to forgive him. He went on to say that UCONN was up by 18 points with 5 seconds left in the 1/2 when Alicia Ratay of ND hit a wide open 3 to cut the lead to 15. When he got to the locker he started throwing stuff and screamed at the players for all 15 minutes how could they leave Ratay wide open! Some of the girls were crying and went out and lost the lead and the game! He said it wasn't one of his shining moments! He then said that team had 7 AA's and was the greatest WCBB team ever!

IMHO The Muffett isn't 1/2 the coach Geno is! She's a whiner and cry baby who demands respect from her peers and you don't demand respect, you earn it!
If you review the games UCONN has lost to ND over the last several years, UCONN LOST THOSE GAMES, ND DIDN"T WIN THEM! The CT players went into those games giving ND way too much credit and made unforced mistakes at crucial times! When they played THEIR style of BB, UCONN kicked ND butts all over the court winning by 15 to 25 points! ND won't beat UCONN again as CT has their mojo back and KNOW they're the better team! UCONN bigs will destroy ND bigs to win the game!

This thread isn't about Geno, oh myopic one. He is the best the WBB game has ever seen. The thread is about the next tier of teams and coaches; the coaches who have their teams in the hunt almost every year. The Brooklyn Dodgers lost to the Yankees almost every time; didn't make them a bad team.

McGraw (and the others mentioned here) are most certainly respected by their peers, including Geno. I'm willing to bet they couldn't possibly care less about respect from the likes of you.

Oh, and by the way, had it been ND who had the 15 point half time lead and UConn who came back, you would be lauding it as one more shining moment in a stellar career.

If Muffet did a great job, terrible job, or indifferent job of coaching in that game in 2001, it is now 14 years later...... and time for her and every other coach to chart a new course
