They didn't go from two to four. They changed formats. The new format includes four teams. Now, with respect to evidence, every time a league has the opportunity to expand the playoffs, they do so. It's not like back in '68... you won the American League in baseball you went to the World Series (GO TIGERS!!!). Now how many teams qualify for the playoffs? They even have a ridiculous play-in wild card game...as if a 162 game schedule (+spring training games) isn't enough. NHL...ridiculous. NFL...silly. I would turn this discussion around: Show me a case or two where playoffs didn't expand...and I don't me LAX. Big time sports...and certainly NCAA D1 P5 football would qualify as 'BIG TIME'. (Too big for my tastes actually.) I am against the playoffs. I was against the BCS. I was fine with four - six major bowl games (now we have 30+ meaningless games...nonsense). I am against athletic departments running universities, instead of the other way around. I am for the president @ UofM turning Michigan into a .500 football team if every player graduates. TOO MUCH $$$$$$$...and it corrupts EVERYTHING.They made a lot of money going from 2 to 4. And yet it took them 16 years to do so.
But now a lot of money is going to make them go from 4 to 8 in 3 years? There is NO evidence to suggest that.
