I'm a bit of a gambling man, but I'm an inexperienced gambler.

I know Vegas keeps the odds based on public perception rather than reality. Our UConn Huskies are going off at 50-1 odds of winning the national title.
I think people are sleeping on us. If we stay healthy, we have the best backcourt in the country with one of the best leaders in Shabazz. We know how important backcourt play is come tourney time, I think Shabazz can lead us to the promise land. I think 50-1 is a gift. I am hoping to put some money down on us before the team plays a game and the odds are likely to change.

Anyone put money on us or thinking of putting some money down? How much are people betting? If I'm thinking of putting some money down on them to win it all, how much should I throw down?

Stinger,

Are you willing to make some bets on behalf of the members of the Boneyard? I would love to put 100 on Uconn winning the NC.

I heard Mauconn and Fluedyslipcon threw so many water balloons at Domenico "Greaseball" Cefalo this summer that he relinquished power of the Gambino family. From what I hear on the street there was a big meeting in Vegas recently and Dogbreathu, Burnsbro, Fishy, Temery, Mauconn , Fluedy and Stinger named Francesco "Franky Boy" Cali as the new God Father totally bypassing Bluedoggyhouse !

Now Steve Wynn has changed all the college hoops Futures #'s across the strip warning all those making wagers that all winnings MUST go to support the new UConn Husky practice facility no matter what team UConn fans choose to win it all this year!

Good Luck!!

I've had $100 down on us at 50/1 since it was clear the key pieces were returning.

When were we going off at 60/1?

It is 75/1 at sportbook right now where I currently have $250 on them.

P.S. Unless you have been with sportsbook since prior to the goverment crack down you wont be able to use them, but im sure sites like 5dimes and betonline have the same odds

I doubt you're going to find 50 -1 at any casino. Labor Day weekend they were 30 -1 at MGM books and not included on the slips at Harrahs. At Harrahs you had to take the field whcih was 28 - 1. Another example of how not being in the postseason last year affects peoples perceptions. 2 Harrahs sportsbook managers both told me it was a huge "oversight".

Bovada.com has them at 50 -1 last time I checked.

I wish there was a Boneyard Poker Tournament being that there hasn't been a golf one in years. Would love to play with some of you posters.

My Vegas friend put me down 50:1 at Red Rocks the other day.

All I have to tell you is you will enjoy the season a lot more if you don't bet on the Huskies. Anyone here that has bet regular season games in the past knows what I'm talking about. If you want to throw a 100 bucks on us to win the whole thing that's fine but don't get caught up in normal games. 2012 was an expensive season for me, I don't think they covered more than 5 spreads all season lol

I put 20 bucks down on them at 55 to 1. Online, not in Vegas...I don't usually gamble on college basketball but i see a ton of value (trying to remain objective) at that price. Just a small amount for fun, but this team is under the radar at the national level IMO -- Shabazz is as well as a player.

Think this team is hungry -- or maybe at least more motivated than your average contending team. Second year in a system and a roster with experience. DeAndre's progression and improved strength could be huge and Neils is an underrated player of the bench. If we can rebound the basketball, its fun to put a bit of money down on your favorite team.

Anyone have experience playing the futures and hedging them? Without considering the odds of the matchups in the "hedge" games, a rough calculation on my part leads me to believe uconn is basically the following:

@50:1 to win the NC:

a 2:1 payout to make the sweet 16.
a 1.5:1 payout to make the sweet 16 with a ~10:1 NC bonus
a 11.5:1 payout to make the final four

Am I over simplifying this? Does it get problematic in the individual matchups? If UConn becomes a favorite in these games down the stretch there are also scenarios where you could win the hedge bets and still advance towards the ultimate pay out. I suppose if uconn becomes a heavy underdog than it will cost significantly more to cover the payout required to make the system work.

Bovada.com has us at 33/1 right now which is the top 12 schools on the list, but 8th odds wise. That says a lot for a school some sites are barely putting in their top 20 preseason.
