You can’t bet on any CT colleges. I believe the rationale is it would potentially incent point shaving or be easier to approach and entice players with some type of illegal actions

Makes 0 sense. A CT resident can drive to NY/MA and incite point shaving and approach players at a number of colleges there.

It used to be a thing in Vegas, that you couldn't bet on UNLV games. But now you can. The truth is legal betting makes it easier to ID when something fishy is going on. It should be allowed. But if it was, the XL Sportsbook would be even deeper in the red.

They have the same rules in VA. I guess it also makes it harder to keep the players themselves from betting on their own games.

it honestly might be everywhere. Professional athletes could bet on themselves though.

It’s not in Maryland. Tualia 2 TDs was one of my favorite props during cfb season when I placed it there. Lol

I guess the logic is they make too much money to be incentivized to risk it. Or let someone influence them with money.

Not perfect logic but yeah.

Went to DraftKings Sportsbook at Foxwoods on a Sunday for NFL football. Place was packed with a lot of energy, TVs were great but the food was mediocre at best. I don't think I would go back due to the food. It's not that hard to have really good pub food.

I’d be selling very good bar food, reasonably priced local and national beers and I’d also have Keno, pull tab tickets or whatever else might fly in CT. Simply relying on terrible XL Centerchicken fingers and sports betting was a loser to begin with.

I’m continually disappointed by the number of awful sports bars and breweries that turn up in New England when they have literally the best sports bars, breweries and casinos to get inspiration from right down the street. Why do people think crappy venues will work? They don’t even work in Alabama anymore. The American consumer with disposable knows a nice restaurant or bar and a decent chicken sandwich when they see it.

You're disappointed by the number of awful New England breweries that turn up? I've been to around 40 good ones in CT alone. New England is the land of good breweries.

There losses aren't tied to gambling (they are up 18k in gambling)
So what are there big losses in regards to-rent? Nobody goes unless there is a game at XL?
I assume they aren't charging $5 for beers.

Yeah. Maybe you read it wrong, or maybe I said it wrong. I don’t know. I’ve had a few.

I meant that it’s appalling that people dare open these crappy establishments in an area that so clearly knows what good ones are. You can’t expect a subpar pub to make it in New England. But yes, people open garbage, poser bars in New England all the time. They fail.

Shocking result when bureaucrats try to compete in retail gaming. ‘Should we charge for WiFi?’

I'm not sure the XL Sportsbook is worse than the one at Foxwoods. At least when I visited last year.
