Richmond beat Davidson 59-54. Spiders 6-0 in conference, Davidson only 3-3. As good as they looked early on, I'm shocked by their struggles in the A-10, although another poster pointed out one of their leading scorers Sutphin has been out.

Illinois drilled Rutgers 96-68. RU 0-7 in conference.

Michigan St. finally got a bit of a breather and beat Northwestern by 19.

In a A-10 showdown... Richmond goes into Davidson and emerges with a 59-54 victory. The Spiders (who Duke beat by 25) improve to 16-3.

In Big South action... Longwood upsets previously undefeated USC-Upstate 66-48. My High Point Panthers cruised by the Blue Hose of Presbyterian 76-55. Don't look now... but the Panthers are lurking in the forest (jungle, savanna) No Nights Off in the Big South conference... been telling yall for years.

BYU picked a BAD time to move the Big 12. They've been a solid program for a long time, but clearly took a big step backward last year. Probably even worse this year, and getting battered and bruised in their new, much tougher conference. Down almost 30 to Oklahoma St., will fall to 1-5.

C Vivs vanity killed that program. She should’ve retired 5-10 years earlier.

On the plus side they’ll get to play Houston who lost by 40 tonight.

In the AAC... Charlotte beats Tulane 66-64 to remain in first place.

Ha well the joke's on you because my Coogs already made mincemeat of those imposters.

Looks like bad Michigan showed up again, lost to Nebraska by 19. When is good Michigan due to show up again?

Minnesota kept it respectable for a while but ending up losing by 23 to Indiana. Not quite ready for prime time yet.

Like I said, there's the Big 3, and everybody else is playing for 4th place (oh that might've been in the Big 10 thread; I can't keep track of where I post things). Or trying to stay out of last place.

The 4 newbies have 1 win against the existing conference — Houston’s win last weekend over injury riddled TCU
Yeah they really watered down the conference. Adding Utah, Colorado and Arizona next year will help (Arizona St. will further the watering down process). But losing Texas and Oklahoma isn't so good.

I guess it was a bad time for UCF to change conferences too. I remember when they were solid, wasn't very long ago. Maybe they fell off a cliff when their coach left them for Georgia?

Virtually every significant player either graduated or followed Coach Abe to Athens. Cupboard left bare, kinda like how Shauna Green left Dayton and Neighbors left Washington.

Hey Neighbors left Aari McDonald, Wynn lost her all on her own. They still would've needed more help, but a McDonald/Melgoza duo would've been a whole lotta fun to watch.

Yes to the vanity, and it would have been much less damaging if she had only left 2 years earlier, to be honest.

The "should-have" is not quite as high as 10 years, but retirement via her decision pre-covid would have probably been best for the program, around the 5 year mark.

Some interesting ACC matchups today that will either spread out the teams in the standings, or keep them all in close.

23 North Carolina (4-1) @ Georgia Tech (3-2)
15 Florida State (5-1) @ Syracuse (4-1)
14 Virginia Tech (4-1) @ Duke (3-2)

Not sure. Losing Brett has some impact, but in all reality this these should be better based on the roster. Players like Hobbs and Williams need to step up and be consistent.

Syracuse might get a boost from playing at the Dome (should be a big crowd tonight). I wouldn't be shocked if they pulled off the upset, but they cannot be ice cold in Q1 like they were in the past recent games against BC and Clemson. If Syracuse can get off to a hot start and disrupt immediately (like they did with ND), watch out.

It's an interesting day for WBB, there are 8 ranked teams playing today...all road games.
I always get a little nervous when NC State plays at Miami, like they are scheduled to this evening. Usually, the atmosphere is only slightly more energetic than the funeral parlor that is the Conte Forum...and our games with Miami tend to be grinders. I'm expecting another tight game tonight. State just needs to win by 1 point.
