Do we still not have a manager yet? What the hell. Get on with it already.

there is NO rush for us at this point - next competitive game is 16mos away - let the world cup & end of club seasons play out and make sure we do our due diligence in hiring the RIGHT guy for the job. There are not many good options available to us right now anyhow, at least IMHO.

I think Roberto Martinez (Current Belgium Coach and ex Everton and Wigan coach) will be one of the guys on the short list.

So who is making decisions in the meantime? Who is deciding who plays or who we look at more closely? I know competitive matches are a ways off, but it concerns me that we leave it rudderless.

I imagine they will hire a GM first and the GM will probably have his man identified.

He was at the LAFC-Galaxy game last week, most likely scouting Ciman, but I'd imagine he entertained a brief conversation with some USSF suits?

He’s been visible on NBC Sports lately.

Martinez has been a fixture on American TV's since his Wigan days.

If he has a good World Cup he will be a favorite if the cluster fk of a GM thing gets sorted. Honestly, this is a much bigger worry at this moment, the manager will come in due time.

They’ll pick their man in the fall/winter after the World Cup.

Squad selection in 2019/2020 will depend heavily upon how much field time the young guys are getting with their clubs. For 2018, you just pick guys based on some rotation and availability. Now is the time to see who might be able to play right through pre-WC friendlies then reassess.
