Why, why, why do they feel the need to play UMass at a neutral site? So they can fill Gillette with a quarter of the stadium?? Or is there a reason they aren't playing at UMass? (Stadium construction?)

Future UMass Schedule Dates (2023 thru 2027)

Just guessing that this year is our home game, next is theirs. I think this game was always part of the current agreement, just the location changed. The 24-27 games are a new package. That’s my guess anyway I’m thinking the neutral site game is the rescheduled 2020 game that was cancelled by...

And Rice pulled in their new portal QB, the well traveled JT Daniels, formerly from USC, err Georgia, errr WVU. Anyway he’s at Rice now which probably makes this a tougher game than if he wasn’t there.

Probably a few reasons. I’m guessing Fenway made a bid for the game that made it worthwhile is #1. Doubt it will be at Foxborough. #2 is UConn and UMass will play each other regularly for the foreseeable future. They are neighbors. So both schools are trying to make this game an event.
