Just got back from Gampel and the opening round of the NCAA women's basketball tournament. Now an evening of UConn baseball is on tap.

Good to see Broadhurst in the cleanup spot in the lineup tonight.

The baserunning used to be an issue on Penders coached teams. The past few years have seen a tremendous improvement in that regard, but Studley's mental mistake there hurt.

Still too many strikeouts and double plays for this offense.

Bottom 2nd, S. Quigley retires the side in order, including a strikeout for the final out, his 2nd strikeout of the night. 1-0 UConn. Quigley is at 37 pitches on the night so far.

After a Broadhurst walk, Studley with an RBI single, 4-0 UConn. They try to pick off the runner at 1B, but a run scores on a throwing error by the pitcher. 5-0 UConn. A pickoff play ends the inning.

A pick off attempt got Padilla in a rundown between 1B and 2B. During the rundown, Studley tried to score, but was caught in his own rundown and eventually tagged out.

Freeberger gets a swinging bunt base hit, and Huber hits a double to set us up with 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out. It would be nice to throw the dagger in here.
