Is anyone else finding losing projected starters to James Madison deflating?
Losing players to a ranked team....
… w/ a new head coach and coaching staff. Jobs are open/fresh start for all.

Hell… they even got a Defensive Analyst from UConn:

“Justice Seales, graduate assistant – Seales worked as a graduate assistant with UConn in 2023. He was a defensive quality control coach for Holy Cross the season prior, giving him familiarity with Chesney.”

I wouldn’t lose sleep over losing players to JMU. We’re replacing them with similar level players and just like the kids leaving, the kids coming in, felt they needed a change. The portal enables kids to easily join a friend, girlfriend or coach they like elsewhere. There’s all kinds of reasons why kids will hit the portal given how easy it is.

Is anyone else finding losing projected starters to James Madison deflating? Is there even a point to this if that’s how desperately anyone with talent will jump off ship?
Can you imagine what schools are saying when they lose similar players to our 3-9 disaster? Losing players to a ranked JMU team is far from a head scratcher. It's time for us to get over ourselves and recognize how low we are on the CFB totem pole.

In the case of Ruelas, even in the face of McFadden's struggles last year (and his own successes), Mora still didn't demonstrate that he had confidence in Ruelas to take the job back; you can't blame him for looking for a new opportunity after being in the program 4 years (2020-2023). Best of luck to a kid who showed up as a walk-on and demonstrated he should be playing somewhere at an FBS level.

Teams haven’t lost anyone to our 3-9 disaster. Every P5 transfer we get is some backup who couldn’t cut it at that level. We’re losing starters to James Madison. It’s not the same.

Went down to Harrisonburg for the game last year and can’t blame anyone for jumping ship. Much better game day atmosphere and clearly superior on field product.

No JMU was one of the best FCS teams in the country and continued to be really good when the bumped up to FBS. Let’s see what the new coach can do with them.

Is McFadden still “untaken” from that godforsaken portal? Is there a reason why 2 kickers, way better at their slot then anyone on our team, both split?
And they are better than the IU kid, imo. Best of luck to him, in any event.

McFadden had one of the lowest made FG % and XP % in FBS last year. I don’t think he ever recovered from his injury. Ruelas was solid except his FG made % over 30 yards in 2022 was 44% which is too low.

It’s ridiculous that we’re losing players to a third year 1A program.

Speaks to the incompetence in our Athletic Department unable to emphasize the only sport that really matters in conference realignment

JMU is way better than us and were ranked. They currently have alot more to offer than we do.

There is not a great history of former UConn players contributing greatly to their future schools. Maybe a Handful
Neibrich at Fordham and Dixon at Eastern Kentucky? FCS level.
Beavers and Turnstall at Cincinatti
DeGeorge at Louisville
Carter at Michigan State
Tyler Davis? What 15 catches 1 td He made himself standout to a local NFL club during Tech's pro day after a performance enhancement stint making himself bigger, stronger, faster. Good story there.

Fixed it for you. Clearly the coaches didn’t think so.
