Honestly nothing of what you suggest should be off the table. There are guys on this team who have contributed and need to contribute but may just do it from different roles than we and or coaching staff expected.

The lineup is a real question since there are so few that you can have any confidence in when they come to plate.

They need a win, badly. Can’t hit with risp and the lack of good AB (k’s) is killing them offensively. Maybe Tammaro drops to 567 range along with Morton to try and generate some timely hitting. I like Padilla/Daniels hitting top 2 followed by Studley/Broadhurst. Less overall AB for Tammaro n Morton but I think it’s worth the risk…Simmons and Dalena struggling so much has really hurt em

Do they consider starting an Ellison or Quinn or Schild on a Sunday and let Coe/Cooke be the long relief, middle relief, setup men and even potentially closing, throughout the season? Idk, but they need a few wins this week. Still can salvage an at-large if needed, but these next 6 are important. At the least Quigley/van Emon seem solid. Can Cooke close primarily? It would open up a lot having Aftim available where their currently having issues trying to figure out what they have. A lot of questions to have when you really need these wins this early in a season.
These are all good points. Tammaro and Morton are aggressive at the plate. Thats not a totally bad thing but they shouldnt be 1-2 in the order when they don’t work counts and don’t walk. I’ve advocated Daniels leading off for awhile let’s see. Id be ok with Tammaro hitting second. Morton has to be mid lineup. They’ll struggle against a lefty like yesterday. Worst I’ve seen Tammaro look at UConn. Better hitting teams will get to that UCSB lefty (better discipline and pitch recognition). They’ll make him throw strikes.

couple other points - didn’t understand Simmons and Dalena in versus a lefty. Made no sense. Malcom trying to be a vocal leader which they need. the pitching I have no clue on. I know what happened with Quinn/Afhtim but Ellison started that whole thing walking 2 guys. Unacceptable . with a chance to steal a game against a ranked team didn’t understand the Ellisen move but whatever. Right now they’re playing just well enough to lose. And how many pickoff moves are going to be thrown into CF? Again unacceptable.

lets see what happens today.

Bottom 1st, with 2 runners on base with 2 out, an RBI single for the Gauchos. 1-0 Gauchos. This is followed by a 3 run homer, 4-0 Gauchos. S. Quigley had 2 strikeouts that inning before any of the runs came in to score.

I have real confidence in this team, but we do seem a bit lifeless right now.

Top 3rd, Minick with a 1 out single, first baserunner of the game for the Huskies. Minick steals 2B with 2 outs, and moves to 3B on a wild pitch, but he is left on base. 4-0 Gauchos.

Bottom 3rd, Gauchos load the bases with no outs. A no out error on Minick allows a run to score and keeps the bases loaded, 5-0 Gauchos. No more runs come in this inning as S. Quigley picks up 2 more strikeouts.

Still, looking like another ugly game so far for the Huskies.

Amazing to get out of that inning only giving up one. Give Quigley credit for operating under a high leverage situation.

Bottom 4th, Gauchos load the bases again with no outs. S. Quigley is taken out of the game, Joe Cinnella takes the mound.

Cinnella hits the first batter he faces to bring in a run, 6-1 Gauchos. After a strikeout for the first out, a sac fly brings in another run, 7-1 Gauchos.

S. Quigley hit 2 batters, so now UConn pitchers have hit 3 Gaucho hitters today so far. Quigley also issued 2 walks.
