The Big East has to put those clowns on the clock.

They cannot let them keep going like this - they’re like 215 games under .500 in conference since they joined the Big East….and they’re actually getting worse. They can’t keep their losses under 30 most of the time. They couldn’t win the NEC.

They’re the worst major conference program in explored space, their NIL is a four-letter word that begins with ‘s’, they can’t even draw flies to their games and with Georgetown, they’re absolutely fragging the conference’s net rankings.

Give them three years, five years or whatever, but give them a deadline to improve. If they don’t, replace them with any program with a pulse and you immediately improve the Big East.

I say we drown ‘em in a bathtub in Cow Dick, Texas

Wonder if Depaul could pry Anthony Grant with enough $$$. The league should put high pressure on them to spend whatever it takes to get a winning mid major coach. Moser is a dream, but no way he's leaving Oklahoma unless it's a Shaka style exit.

Flip the sport to football and UConn could be asked same questions.
Apples and oranges

When Ray Meyer was getting it done with the likes of Mark Aguirre(Final Four, #1 NBA Draft), UConn was YanCon Football. Aguirre by the way, hired in October as some sort of Special Asst to Athletic Director Peevy at DePaul.

"Performance Improvement Plan", HR-speak for "you're getting fired soon."

It's usually a list of things an employee must do to avoid getting fired (but should have done already) and thus unlikely to do so in a short period of time. Also, this is an attempt to avoid labor issues around being terminated without cause-- a failed PIP can introduce "cause" and thus limit any severance obligations.

In many cases, the PIP leads the employee to simply resign and avoid a termination "with cause" on his future job applications, which is what the employer wanted all along and then doesn't have to pay severance as a result. (In Putin-esque terms, instead of being thrown out the first floor window, the PIP simply opens the window and the employee jumps out first.)

Matas Buzelis left but that's all I know about. There certainly isn't any exodus of Chicagoland talent to New England Prep or any other Prep around the country.

There isn't the Derrick Rose, Ronnie Fields, Kevin Garnett, Benji Wilson, Jahlil Okafor, Anthony Davis at the moment but there's still a ton of talent in the area. The next biggest/star names are most likely going to be the trio of freshmen point guards- Davion Thompson, Jaxson Davis, and Devin Cleveland. They all already have Illinois offers and are doing things not many or no local freshmen have ever done.

None of what you're talking about has dried up, there seems to have been like a three to five year blip where they're not kicking out the extreme talent like usual but there's still the public school powers and Catholic school powers and still the awesome talents coming up...

The South Side has been a gang infested wasteland for decades and has been producing high D1 talent and NBA players for decades. Same goes for the West Side which is even more dangerous than the South Side.
I stand corrected. Thought I’d heard that when the U Illinois pipeline dried up a couple of decades earlier (post Lou Henson). I guess kids don’t want to stay home for DePaul teams. Makes sense.

According to Trilly, Porter Moser is the leading candidate at DePaul. Would definitely be a sign of investment
That was leaked long ago by not Trilly. He caught wind.

Porter isn’t happy in Norman OK (who would be)? He’s a basketball guy stuck in a school that loves football. He isn’t excited about the SEC either…

DePaul is playing out the year with an interim coach. Maybe they get their act together, make a great hire, maybe not.

I would rather have a bad team the country's third largest market than Dayton.

I get the market argument….to an extent.

The Big East isn’t paid for markets, though. And DePaul is not a “bad team”; they’re the worst major conference program in existence and they’re getting worse. The only thing we’re getting out of our association with DePaul is a punctured conference NET which causes a loss of bids which causes a loss of money.

I don’t care who the conference replaces them with - but put them on notice that it can happen.

From what I've read, he hates Oklahoma and wants to move back to the Midwest. Not sure how accurate it is, but theres too much smoke to not be at least partially true

The problem there is the buyout - it’s $6M. DePaul is not raising that money.

That's true, but DePaul doesn't really seem to have an exit ramp. They've been bad for a very long time and there is no end in sight. Louisville has quite a bit of recent success, and once Kenny Payne is gone they'll bounce back. They have donors willing to splash major cash for basketball NIL and they will use it and quickly rebuild their roster. DePaul doesn't have that, and I don't see them changing their fortunes any time soon.
Could very well be true but they still lost to DePaul.

Were you doing penance for murder?

Honestly, I was kind of looking forward to it.

I saw Notre Dame lose by 20 at home to Citadel like a week later and I thought for a brief period that Louisville and Notre Dame were the two worst P6 teams I had ever seen….that’s when DePaul lit the afterburners.

Other than the fact that Depaul beat Louisville head to head, you are 100% correct.
