Like a volleyball spike. She was off the ground at least 2 seconds before the offensive player. Could have been faked out.

Wow, congrats to Arkansas, strutting their stuff against mighty Northwestern State! They might be ready to take on Nicholls now!

I'm old enough to remember when players were taught to block shots to create transition instead of dead ball inbounds plays. ;)

This was well worth it for the entertainment value.

If she had gently tapped it to a teammate to have the possession, would that have been called the Smartbia block? :)

I concur. When I watched this soon after you posted it, I was going to also point out the philosophy that a real good block was one that was kept in play, hopefully to the blocker's team AND also point out that I thought that the Aubrey block of that 3 point shot in the Seton Hall game was a waaaaay better block. But I didn't want to start a debate.
But I agree with you, this is entertaining.
I am glad, tho, that I didn't post what I first thought about the video. :)

That was also a really weak shot by the player with the ball. What did she think would happen?

It was a fast break opportunity, so I would say she did the what she was supposed to do.
