Beat NC State and we'll be top 25 by the end of the year.............. have to give the experts time to let it sink in and recognize how good a job JM is doing and how good the team really is. They'll figure it out when the only loss is by less than 20 at Tennessee!

86 feels right to me, with a final ranking a little higher. The fog has lifted.

UCONN could do well assembling an annual schedule that was composed of:

3 Sun Belt
3 C-USA
3 MAAC/MWC
2 Wildcard FBS

I think we'll end up post season about 20 spots higher
I'd like to think that's fair. I find it hard to believe UConn will really regress anywhere. I guess offense side of the ball will be better, I've forgotten where defense stands

I think offense and special teams will be better and defense perhaps just a bit better on the front line and backfield with LB's about the same so net-net a 7 or 8 win season is attainable.

-> Now the Hokies, and ACC and in-state rival Virginia, both rank below UConn, which has been left out of the exclusive power conference club mainly because power players believe it can’t compete in football. Under Jim Mora, UConn went 6-7 last season, reached a bowl game and are in position to build on that with an improved roster and a schedule full of winnable games in 2023. One betting expert has the Huskies as one of the most “undervalued” teams in the nation. A look at the schedule and a reasonable football fan might expect that they could push for seven or eight wins.

The independent Huskies also rank ahead of Indiana (94), Stanford (95), Virginia (96) and Northwestern (99), and just a few spots below Colorado (84), West Virginia (83) and Georgia Tech (81). Boston College, which lost to UConn last year and finished 3-9, is in at No. 82.

UConn’s jump to No. 86 in these preseason rankings is significant considering the fact that it was tabbed 129th out of 131 teams in FBS by The Athletic coming into last season. <-

That Courant article should have been headlined "we're #86!" with a field storming picture... It's positive movement, not necessarily celebration time.

But that's our ceiling. To believe otherwise is asinine.
Our ceiling is better than average Sun Belt?

Talk about the pot calling the kettle asinine.

Today's update: Our "friend" just northeast of Storrs, um, slipped "a little". It should be an interesting view throughout the season. PS - Northern Illinois started at #120 in Week 0.

Hey sportsfans - either The Athletic changed the rankings a lil after I did last week’s post, or excel did some crazy resorting as I found a few oops in the 45-55 range. Such is life. Colorado and Utah only teams with two P-5 wins after week 2.

Biggest movers up - Rice (43), Miami (36), Cincinnati (25)
Biggest movers down - Troy (-20), Houston (-22), Buffalo (-32)
Top 25 losses - Alabama
