After many projected Scottie Barnes to go to Oregon, 2020's 9th overall prospect and 4th `top-10 prospect commits to Florida State, making Barnes the 2nd highest ranked recruit in Leonard Hamilton's FSU tenue.

The key to the surprise commit? FSU is giving the 6'8 210 Barnes the keys to play point guard, which is huge in developing his NBA credentials.

This is also the 2nd straight year FSU has signed a Montverde kid.

They have a shot at #3 Jalen Green too. Football team hasn’t done too well recently. FSU hoops school now?

Hamilton is a great coach and is very like-able, can see them starting to get more big boys.

Great the last two years maybe (Elite 8 two years ago and Sweet 16 last season). Career-wise one Elite Eight and three Sweet Sixteens in 31 years and overall losing records at Oklahoma St and Miami and then a surge the last few years at Florida St.
He's 71, though, so this may be his last chance to do something special.

I’d say pretty damn good. Not like FSU has great history. Goes head to head with the UNC and duke and competes. Barnes is a winner. Also signed Sardaar Calhoun top Juco player in the country.

Hamilton has been trying to compete in the ACC with Duke, UNC, and Virginia....while not having their star power.

Emphasizes defense, recruits length. Recruits a 7 footer (sometimes a semi project) to guard the rim.

A Sweet 16 is an excellent year for Hamilton and just about FSU's top end.

Coach Hamilton's 2020 team is shaping up...

Incoming commits Scottie Barnes (5*), Sardaar Calhoun (4*), and Malachi Wideman (4*)...

To go with the 2019 guys Patrick Williams (5*), Balsa Koprivica (4*)....and some three stars.

And there will be some holdovers, like sophomores MJ Walker, Malik Osborne and Raiquan Gray, who will still be playing in 2020.

Favorite name for defensive player? FSU's Ty Hands.
