Scoe had 10 points and 12 boards in 21 min. Shot 4-7, 1-4 from the line in UNLVs exhibition LOSS to Dixie State.

UNLV needs a PG in the worst way.

Is he even playing small forward? That's the reason he left.

I can't imagine Roscoe as a successful 3. He just has zero handle

Would have gained nothing by staying. He wants to play the 3 and he can't. Good guy, he'll have a good career overseas.

Gained literally nothing by leaving. I bet he regrets it. Wish him the best though.

Roscoe is a great example of why you cannot trust scouting reports. Word was that he was this light's out outside shooter (he was called one of the best perimeter shooters in his class); the next great 3 man in the program. He gets here, is a poor outside shooter and possesses barely any 3 man skills. He was a great glue guy as a 4 but he's not what he was made out to be.

He's a perfect example of a slightly skilled 4 that due to his size and strength, looked like a 3 against high school competition.

Roscoe left because he got jerked around a bit during his sophomore year and UConn looked to be a pure disaster in time for his junior year.

Calhoun was in and out with the suspension and then the back issue. Roscoe's minutes were up, down, then way down and then way up - I thought they misused him something fierce all season. (Ahem..Blaney.) Ultimately, he lost about seven minutes a game or 400 on the year.

You couldn't blame him for looking for a more stable situation.

Hindsight being 20/20, he would have thrived under Kevin Ollie.

Bingo. His being underskilled as a perimeter player was never exposed against high school competition.

I wish Roscoe the best. I thought he would be a Husky forever but he handled his transfer like a man, unlike AO. No trash talk just felt he needed a change. I have a lot of respect for Roscoe for taking the high road and not slandering the school he won an NC with like someone we know. Still, you won't see any of JC's finest coaching moments in the 2012 season.

Still have to make shots, why is that different?

He's a def tweener, good kid and he'll play overseas for lots of years.

It wasn't just his inconsistent jumper, he lacked the ability to create and get to the hoop off the dribble. As a wing, he was a jump shooter that couldn't shoot. He is a 4 who can score better near the hoop and on offensive rebounds. He also runs the fast break well. Just lacks the overall skill of a D1 wing. He is a versatile 4 though, and that's where he'll make a living.

All of this was right (although Calhoun deserves as much blame as Blaney), but this point is particularly important.

Roscoe could have played the 4 and the 5 on the floor last year (some of Daniels minutes, and also in a lineup of Napier-Boatright-Calhoun-Daniels-Roscoe or N-B-C-Giffey-Roscoe); we would have rebounded better, and he could have worked on his handle against mismatched 5s. It's not like we had great interior defense, either...

I loved Roscoe but his leaving helped in DD's development.
hard nosed kid who I wish well.
I think he still has a shot at the NBA

It was a blessing in disguise.

I really liked Roscoe. I think he got a raw deal his second year, so I can't blame him for transferring. Hopefully he has a great year for the Rebels.

Raw deal?? How? If he can't play and contribute @ this level then whose fault it that exactly?

Who said he couldn't contribute at this level?

Looking back on it, our best lineup in 2011-12 was Bazz, Boat, Lamb, Roscoe, and Drummond. I wish the Oriakhi/Drummond experiment would have ended sooner - AO wasn't skilled enough to capitalize on his size advantage offensively and he was too laboring to guard the Jae Crowder's of the world on the other end. Oriakhi was a five and only a five, and by the time we realized it, our season was virtually over.

Roscoe was a major contributor to the 2010-2011 National Championship team. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous. The Drummond + Oriahki front court experiment didn't work and Roscoe lost minutes because of it.

Funny you should bring it up - I just got one!

Raw deal? Maybe but who knows. Problem with Roscoe was at the time he was the perfect "complimentary" player for the team as a frsoh. He played good defense, rebounded the ball a little and made some tough put backs. With a guy like Kemba going whacky all the little things that he did were perfect for a freshman to carve out minutes. Problem the next year is he came back the same player, no Kemba and they needed him to put the ball on the floor and be a bigger part of the offense, and he couldn't do that. He never shot it as well as advertised which hurt him and he just had not shot of taking anyone off the dribble while being an awful passer (who couldn't read a clock LOL). We all know JC was a stubborn bastard and if he happened to be falling in to the Alex syndrome that would also have hurt his efforts for minutes because JC was not having that crap. That's only speculation but something happened and we'll never know. No matter, he should have stayed a Husky and never left and battled for his minutes instead of quitting. I like Roscoe and hope he does well at UNLV also but really don't need to follow him!

That Iowa State game in the tourney was the perfect example of how valuable Roscoe was. Royce White made Drummond and Oriakhi look bad, and it wasn't until we were down big and the game was all but out of reach that we put Roscoe on him, and the bleeding stopped. Roscoe was a terrific defender, and if we play him on White from the start, we have a decent shot of winning that game.

I love Scoe and only wish him the best- he played 110% every time he hit the floor-
