RJ Cole and his career point total

RJ is so valuable to this team. The game is completely different when he isn't in the game. As great as Sanogo has played, I think RJ is our most indispensable player. We simply don't have anyone else to provide the ball handling and leadership that he brings night in and night out.

There was a ceremony last night where Cole was honored for having scored his 2000 D1 point recently. Tyrese Martin was also honored for recently scoring his 1,000th career point. After two seasons at Howard and a season and a half playing for UCONN, Cole now has 2036 points in college. To put that in perspective, Christmas is the only time UConn leading scorer at 2145.

I Wonder if Cole's point total (2036 and growing) is among the active leaders in D1. If he isn't the leader, he has to be near the top. Any stat guys care to chime in ?

If Cole stays another season, he could end up being one of our highest scorers ever. Yeah, it doesn't really count because he was at Howard... but I think we can agree the kid has game.

After a little digging I found that Cole is currently third among active players in terms of total D1 points scored. One guy ahead of him is playing his 5th season and the other is Antoine Davis of Detroit Mercy who has averaged at least 23.6 points in each of his four D1 seasons.

If Cole does return next season, his career D1 point total should well exceed 2500 points, quite a milestone.
