“Somebody has to lead the team, and know you can look at somebody like, ‘Okay, he has our back, he’s going to get us to the next level, and keep reaching us to get higher and higher,’” he said. “So I always want to keep plugging away at that so my teammates know I’m always going to be there for them, no matter what it is.”

He was around with Vital, so he has something to work with. Hopefully he took notes and is ready to assume that leadership role.

Perhaps he'll be appointed Captain.

Has nothing to do with Cole, but when someone says they hope to lead, that isn't usually a characteristic of a leader.

I'm perfectly fine with a Knights of the Round Table approach where all are equal.

Another article on Cole from the New Haven Register. Free access to this one.

“Last year I didn’t do well as far as finishing around the rim,” Cole said. “I missed a lot of 2’s. My field-goal percentage hasn’t been really good, it’s been probably like high 30s (.387). I’m trying to get into the 40s.

“My 3’s have been 38 (.386, 39-for-101). I’m trying to move that to the 40s as well.”

That would be nice.
