Programs and a style of play...

Some programs seem to have a dominant style of play that tempts me to pigeon hole them.


Alabama....offensive tempo, spread, perimeter shooting team...ordinary defense...but long range bombers. Their strength may be their limitation.

Gonzaga.....Shooters...sharp shooters...fluid ball movements and cohesive offense that comes at you fast. They do it all Off and Def.

Baylor.....much the same

Nova....I have not watched them enough..but motion based offense...lots of movement...pick & roll specialists...quick jumpers...wings always looking to get a shot.

Loyola...great on forcing defensive help and then passing to open slasher or moving wing. Offense is difficult to be ready for.

FSU...big guard U...can win or lose any game..play ugly and aren't the best shooters

Oregon....Very potent offense....high percentage shots...dribbles to basket and perimeter shooting,,,

That's because we usually wait for the other team to dictate the style they would like us to play.

Our defensive identity is clear. We're a top 25 team every year when we have one on offense.

Vegas favors:

Bama by 6 over UCLA (4th in Pac standings)...

So Cal by 2.5 over Oregon

Baylor by 6.5 over Nova

Michigan by 3 over FSU

Gonzaga by 13.5 over Creighton

Houston by 6 over Syracuse

Loyola by 6.5 over Oregon State

I like the way Altman built that Oregon team. Their entire starting 5 is exactly 6'6" lol. They spread the floor, and 4 of them shoot the 3 at 40% or better..So while they lose height at the 4/5 position, they have a huge guard advantage over teams that are trotting out guys like RJ Cole. And they can clear out the paint because bigs have to track out to the 3pt line or else they will kill you with wide open looks.

If I was in charge of building a roster I would model it like that rather than the typical small to big lineup. Whatever team has the bigger and better advantage at the guard spot will win most of the time

I'll do it for you. Plays perimeter passing, I guess to eventually tire the opponent out or try and confuse them. They always bring their bigs past the free throw line for picks, ball hand offs and nothing else, meaning for show. Always looking to shoot under 10 seconds then crash the boards like crazy, always expecting a missed shot.
