I got this link in an email today:
Massive, 5,655-Carat 'Lion Emerald' Unearthed in Africa
Evidently Zambia's ramped up emerald production since I last knew. 5655 carats in this one emerald might just have pushed it past Colombia. ;)

Maybe, maybe not. About 8-10 years ago the Elephant emerald (6,000+ carats) was discovered in Zambia. At such time I believe Columbia still produced about 60% of the world's output of emeralds. One carat equals 0.02 grams and annual emerald production is typically measured in kilograms. At least I believe so.

14..SVC & VAUC say he was playing, "pin the tail on the draftee".

15..Heavy, SVC & Big claim an Italian city went up in flames. Nero's ghost, I imagine.

16..Storm is correct. Takes your breath away, no?

17..Drive & big with the 60's classic.

18..Heavy & SVC...Big knows it would solve all his financial problems, once he can make lithium behave when doused.

19..Game & VAUC. SVC tries to get some politics past us.

20..Just 1/2 of VAUC's guess. And Game, if a lion is laden at all, it's laden with sadness
That everyone's heart isn't filled with the gladness and love for one another.

21..You may not often take Smarty Pants seriously, but this time you can.

22..Game's Quintet solves this.

23..Two thirds of you erroneously mention the other author. SVC has Bob...or maybe Mrs. SVC.

24..My question was formed because of the info Big mentions. So let's just say both nations have much green. Other nations have the envious kind of green.

25..Collectively you give us 3. Always a pleasure when BYers outdo what's called for.

And so the season starts, and there will be fewer tests. If you experience withdrawl, I recommend Edy's ice cream.

Good quiz Chief. Sorry I missed it. Would surely have missed several items. And if you live where it is available, please try Blue Bell ice cream. You will be glad you did. Just makes one a happier, more engaging person. Tastes great too.:D

I missed it too, when I read part A. But unlike Bama, I would have missed all but one item. I did know about the Secretary of War, who may have been someone named Henry Stinson, but not sure on that. While I knew that the 2 names were supreme court nominees, I had no idea of the pres.

But, I say, "good quiz" as well.
