Why would anyone want to go to the ACC when the Big 12 is in play?

Because it's the better overall conference with many of our traditional Big East rivals, most games are in our time zone. This whole "the ACC will be raided" thing is just nonsense at this point. There's no school that would leave the ACC for the Big XII and probably three Big XII teams (Cincy, WVU and UCF) that would prefer the ACC.

Look at those demographic posts above yours. The ACC is in really good shape despite the noise from FSU. Notice that they are a little quieter now that they suck. The SEC doesn't want them or Clemson. The B1G doesn't want them either (but might take UNC if it had a chance). The Big XII is objectively worse for them in every way (football, travel, rivalries even money).

UF and FSU are coming strained by size. They aren’t going to have 60k-70k enrolled. And those in-state HS kids want to stay in-state. Gotta put them somewhere.

I was looking at the FAU and FIU enrollment numbers last and was amazed to find FAU at 30k and FIU at 45k. Not sure how many commuters, but kind of mind blowing that FAU is as big as UConn and FIU is 1.5x. Soooo many people in FL.

Well, Syracuse, BCU, and Pitt are opponents that we have a history with. For basketball fans, games against Duke and North Carolina our attractive. Staying on the East Coast feels closer distance wise. I can see why it's attractive to people.

On the other hand, they have historically shown no interest in adding us. My attitude is whoever makes the first binding offer is the winner. I'm not holding my breath though.

I'm no expert on Florida and its schools but all of those big FL Universities are part of the State University System of Florida. Times are changing and perhaps UCF, USF, FAU, FIU, FGCU have an advantage over the traditional UF and FSU - Location. For many college degrees, there really isn't a big difference where you go to school, so why not stay closer to home or if you are out of state, attend a nicer location. It seems to me Location would be a big factor.

I believe acceptance to Florida schools is determined, to some extent, by lottery. That way, all of the highest achievers don't end up at UF. In the interest of balance, they intentionally spread the wealth such that every school in the system gets a quota of superior students.

Correct, it's impossible to call a perfect game. But I do think the game situation requires consideration. BYU was dead. 4th and 10 backed up against its goal line. Quarterback is sacked almost for a safety. In that situation, a very questionable call brings BYU up from the grave.

Their football coaches first press conference after the announcement was him complaining that they werent in the B1G and that they would be soon and the Big XII was just a stopgap.

Those were the magic words, right? It's one thing to question calls in a game. It's usually fine-worthy if you go too far and certainly if you question the overall quality of the refs. But to actually say you're upset about being in the conference you just joined fully warranted the fine and absolutely shows Utah did NOT want to join the Big 12.

There are, however, many ACC teams that should be going crazy about the conference's Miami treatment. I've never seen a conference try so hard to keep a team undefeated. Every 50/50 call that was reviewed went their way and their defense uses the crown of their helmets so often that they should have nobody left on defense by the end of the game.

But the ACC refs seem to have no problem favoring certain teams when given a chance considering their UConn vs. Wake calls.

Have you seen all the replay angles. If you have, then total disagreement with you. And, disagree with your premise that ref calls should be based on situations. Are you serious?

I don’t know why but it seems that officiating at almost every level has really been bad this year. I went to a Wesleyan game a couple of weeks back and the calls were so bad the refs should have been embarrassed. NFL guys seem to be inventing calls. It’s one thing to get a call wrong but yikes, there was a no play called in a game that cancelled a fumble for an illegal snap.
