Football rules the roost. By far and away the biggest error the ACC made was not admitting UConn to the ACC. UConn may not have brought much in football, but once in the league they certainly would have been competitive to at least a degree. But the real problem? Louisville doesn't belong in the ACC, long considered the best academic league in the Power 5. (Pac 12's top is great - their bottom is poor). Culturally - Louisville - a decidedly mediocre school - just doesn't belong. Even its physical appearance is that of a community college. And the scandals of U of L - sure - teams have them - look at UNC - but hookers for teenage players and paid runners for Adidas in federal court don't go down well at all. And now that their men's revenue sports teams are terrible, and may stay that way for a while, I am sure the ACC has regrets. A UConn - Syracuse rivalry would have survived, and even justified putting the tournament in Brooklyn, a not very desirable location for the conference. And UConn academically would have fit in very well with the ACC.
