Not as good as Joe T. made it sound, but entertaining none the less. Navarrette too strong for him and a rematch would be pointless.

Clearly a Navarrate win.

116-112 was as close as you could make.
117-111 was reasonable.

One judge had 118-110 and one had 119-109. Those seem way too generous. Valdez was real strong through rounds 5-10.

Valdez' right eye was useless last 4 rounds but Navarrate hurt his right hand. If Navarrate had a good right hand I think he finishes fight in round 9 or 10.

Agreed. Valdez has all the heart in the world, but I think that hand injury helped him survive. I had it 117 - 111, but I wouldn't argue the closer score. Navarertte missed a lot of shots that the crowd probably thought landed. But he is clearly the better fighter.

Navarete for being the guy who moved up from lower weight classes, looked bigger and stronger. The shine is off of Valdez at this point. Got beat by a slick boxer in Shakur and now got beat by straight ahead boxer puncher in Navarete.

Yeah if Valdez doesn’t get the knockout he’s not a particularly great boxer.
